Life is never easy when owning a Starlet

Recommended Posts

I was on the way to work this morning, pulled up to a set of traffic lights and the revs started to jump between 500 - 1500 then settled down.

Drove for any 10 mile or so and got stoped at another set of lights, it idled at 1k then slowled increased to 2750ish and kept doing this. I haven't been driving hard, fairly easy, hasn't be above 60mph.

Still having this issue now, any ideas or quick fixes?

I'm thinking something to do the the TPS or has hose has came off. I've a 20 mile journey to make after I've finished work and no tools :/

Edit: I haven't had a chance yet to look under the bonnet as I has to go into work.

Adjust rpm needle accordingly :p haha.

Have you tried looking for vacuum leaks buddy?

All the usefull comments are coming out today haha.

I haven't even had a chance to look under the bonnet, stuck in work at the momenet. Fingers crossed a hose has just popped off and it isn't something more sinister!

It doesnt take long to look, and as its been sitting all day the system will be cool so able to open it.

Will do!

Gathering info at the moment, don't want to be stuck in a car park with no tools. So building a check list!

Got is sorted-ish. Well the diagnostics trigged 3 fault codes, which were nothing to do with the problem. Truns out the ICV is to blame, unplugged it ang hey presto revs droped right now. Its now in an ultra sonic cleaner to see if it helps. Its running fine without it, but the EML is on :/
