1991 starlet owner
Hello to all!I've been looking at buying a 330d e46 2006. I can see most people say the bhp is around 170ish but none tend to mention the amount of torque?? So just wondered what sort of torque people get out of there cars and is it worth re-mapping for more??Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Tom.
Idrees
They are 204 BHP standard, not sure on exact torque figures but a shit load after a remap!
MARC MOSS
Fucking loads mate, I have struggled in my e46 m3 upto 100 against my mates and mines been to thorney Motorsport for exhaust and inlet mods a remap and delimit I will ask him
Socks
torque is nothing without matched power also... Which is why diesels feel way faster then they actually are... old video... but still: http://youtu.be/FQjn6iATI74
1991 starlet owner
Aaaahh right, I'm not too worried about exact figures just a rough idea will be fine lads! Perhaps about 300flb?? I must admit I've fallen out of love with my gt as its too uncomfortable and cold in the winter and now with doing plenty of motorway miles too I need something a lot more practical.I also joined one of the bmw forums yesterday but there just isn't the same energy as on here!!Love this one! HaCheers,Waller.
Spoon_tuned
i'm looking at a 330d 08 model really like the look of them just a tad bit out of my range
Idrees
A lot more than 300 ft lb mate.
1991 starlet owner
Is the 08 model the e90 or the e92?? I love the look of the e92s but my budget is about 5k so maybe in a couple of years time. In that case I'll definitely get mine re-mapped when I get one as the mpg can increase sometimes too can't it??
rinseep82
I think it's 370 pounds feet mate pretty sure it is
MARC MOSS
Yea and upto 270horseys
StuDoc 72
E90 is the saloon e92 is the coupe which i have fucking beautiful car.
WallaceGlanza
An E46 330d with the later M57N engine is 204bhp and 300 lb ft standard, with a remap will be up to around 250bhp and 380lb ft, with a decat and a few other little bits around 270bhp and 400lb ft and you'll still get 50mpg. MPG increases a lot with remap and decat.
Fro
Pretty sure Mark@CMB's mate remaps diesels, think the guy has a 330 and its pretty rediculous power iirc. Said he sat side by side with a Porsche Gt3 on a local bypass with his gran in the car Mate was at an RR day with a 130d there I think it was, pretty sure it was close to 400lb ft, boot full of people to try stop it lighting up on the rollers
1991 starlet owner
Definitely will get it re-mapped then! Haha have been wondering for a bit now but 380flb is just too much to turn your nose up at! And 250 bhp is a lot too!!! Well impressed actually! My old fella has an st175 (220 diesel) and its a lovely car!!!! That has about 177 bhp I think and it pulls pretty well! Feel much quicker and nicer than my starlet! MARC MOSS
My bm has 368 at the flywheel and that doesn't feel that fast until u are over 80 then she fucking rips

And the 335d is a twin turbo isn't it?? Well I'm gonna be looking for an auto with the steptronic gearbox as I don't like a manual box on the motorway. Also, you gotta get it in Le Mans blue dude!!! Looks fucking epic!!!
scottyb
Yeah, theyre twin turbo. Im gonna have to have a shot of the auto to see what theyre like. The paddles are awkward though, upshift is pushed forward from the top of the steering wheel spokes and down is the usual paddleshift place lol. Yeah blue and white are my fav colours for them too lol.

Wanting a new job so if that happens then a new car probably wouldnt be for a while! Was looking at older m3s as well, as can get them for £10-12k but i think the running costs would be far too much! 1991 starlet owner
Yeah they look nice!! And yeah I would have thought so! I always remember a comment I read a long time ago about m3's.. ''If you even ask about mpg and running costs then it's probably not the car for you'I must admit that's the reason why I'm going for a diesel, the running costs are manageable. I would love a petrol. The sound of that 3 litre straight 6 is awesome but then again a mate at work has an 03 330ci and he gets between 16-18 to the gallon as he enjoys it.
