adamsd11
So I'm looking at getting a glanza as I've got some spare money and would like a small project to complete through the winter. I've seen this and wondered what it is actually worth in the condition that its in?http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toyota-glanza-1-3-turbo-starlet-no-reserve-/111203495810?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item19e43eaf82 It will be my first mechanical project so I would more likely swap the engine block than forge it, (Depending on cost) Any help would be grate CheersAdam
Zeldoz
Honestly.. Don't even think it's worth what the starting bid is.. Needs an engine....
adamsd11
That is what I was thinking. Blocks are about £500 roughly, what would you say its worth then as im new to this and don't have much idea? Looks clean enough, could do a lot with it but depends what he would let it go for. cheers
fremyjay
Its a 98 spec can fetch anything between £2500-£3500 depending on condition, even if you spend £500 on a bare engine and drop it in over a weekend with a bit of help you could easily make a £1000 profit or at that price you would make a fair bit breaking it

Bought my 98 Spec on 45k miles for less than 2k lol
fremyjay
You got a bargain tbh, I payed £5000 for my 98 spec although that was 2 years ago. 98 specs tend to cost more than a 96 spec and a good 96 spec will set you back around £2000
Zeldoz
I did get a bargain.. But i can't see that being worth anything up to £3000.. If you paid £1500, Spent £500 on a engine.. I think you may have a chance of making £2500 on re-sale if your going to sell it... I'd buy the old knackered engine off you to re-coup some of you moneeyys!
adamsd11
If I did purchase it the old engine would be up for sale. Basically I would like to buy the car, not even because the td04 or mods, just because it looks like a clean base shell. Can someone put a price on it? cheers

Addymk2
Running or a shell? Prices fluctuate on a weekly basis with these carsI'd go in at £1250 and see what he says!
adamsd11
right so I spoke to the guy and just politely said that if it doesn't sell I would be interested as Im not willing to spend £1500 when it needs a new lump. His reply was 'Jog on' so ill leave that one by the looks of it. Time to find another. If anyone knows of any broken/project/cheap glanzas for sale please let me know. Thanks for all your help, adamI've been looking but i cant seem to find any, Emma where do you find these?
Whitenoize
He must be some kinda idiot mate did he say how much he wanted for it ?
adamsd11
no mate, In the advert it says I wont accept offers under my asking price and I will just let the auction run, so I said if it doesn't sell let me know I'm interested and I like your car.. he replied with nothing else than 'jog on', I never said how much I was willing to pay just said not £1500. No wonder he cant sell it if that's how he's talking to people. He can keep it.
Zeldoz
That's apparantly the "father". 17 year old ragged it to death, didn't care for it and blew it up. Obviously how its happened. I wouldn't touch it if thats there attitude.
adamsd11
yeah im going to leave it now. Shame really because it was 98 spec with good shell. Oh well, time to look for another, there has to be one out there.

adamsd11
they are dirt cheap over there. May be worth taking a trip...
WallaceGlanza
Doesn't appear to be a 98 spec judging by the interior (and front bumper), so definitely not worth it.
fremyjay
not all 98 cars came with updated interior, glanza-ben has a 98 and older interior, but the bumper isnt a 98 so must have been changed at some point maybe due to front end damage maybe??
emma.beck93
hope i have been of some help adam and best of luck.in your search
WallaceGlanza
not all 98 cars came with updated interior, glanza-ben has a 98 and older interior, but the bumper isnt a 98 so must have been changed at some point maybe due to front end damage maybe?? Just because it has an R reg plate doesn't mean it is actually a '98 either, Ben's isn't 98 spec. I've never seen a '98/'99 with the old interior.
