Taggy Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 My starlet has developed a misfire while under boost, does anyone know what the correct gapping is supposed to be? My dizzy, rotor and leads have all done less than a 1000 miles so I am at a bit of a loss whats causing it. Plugs are nice and clean and all the same colour on the tips, kinda of a brownish/whitish tan colour. What do you gap yours at? Quote

GP82 Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Hmm, I got someone at work to gap mine to 1mm. Is this too much then? They are iridium heat range 7 The iridiums come pre gapped, but always a good idea to check them all. Should be fine if the motor is not missfiring.Bigger gap will create a bigger spark which is good to get a cleaner burn, but it also puts more electrical strain on the coil. The Toyota ignition system is very robust, it should be ok. Turbo Goose Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 They were approx 0.7mm fresh out the box. I took the old ones out, 3 were 1.1mm gap and the 4th was 1.4mm lol Quote
Amjad Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 My gaps were all over the place out of the box, now at either 0.9 or 1.0mm Quote
