My radiator overheated on sunday due to a crack, I had to drive home with it nearly off the temp scale and stop often to let it cool down. Ive since bought and fitted a new radiator and new coolant and still it overheats? any idea as to why

Much appreciated Sam

Jack the front of the car up.

Heaters on hot

Rad cap off.

Fill coolant system

Start car with cap off.

Get up to temp topping up with coolant all the time. (It will splash everywhere)

Put the cap on and let the fan cut in and out.

Turn it off, fill header tank

Let it cool down for a few hours or over night

Check coolant levels and top up if required

Try it again and see if thats solved it.

try driving uphill/downhill if all else fails and you think it's not bled properly, i've had a huge airlock before and that's solved it, you will hear it glugging away when the air tries to reach the highest point, pull over and let the air out and top up :)
