Chops
Hi all, having some trouble here. im trying to knock together a tf035 kit for my starlet, but ive found there are a million different variations of them with different flanges n shit going on on each different make they were fitted to. can anyone tell me which makes have the preferable 035s in them for fitting to a starlet? i have a battered but serviceable td04 mani i was gonna use for it, but though id rather not i can chop the flange off and fabricate another if needs be. daniel_g
Its the one from a subaru forester you want. I pulled a TF035HL off a Hyundai Santa Fe 2.2 diesel at work, flanges were totally different. It looked like a variable geometery turbo aswell.
Chops
Ive never delt with a variable geometry turbo, would it need a relevant manifold to function properly? id need to get one from one of the newer foresters cause i need it to be as new as possible i suppose. mikey4410
I do know its a subaru tf035 that came of the estate possibly the forrester only
daniel_g
Neither have i tbh, only replaced one due to it seizing up. They are electronically controlled aswell and probably gonna be waaay to much work to put a variable geometry turbo on a starlet for fuck all gain haha.Im not sure what models of forester the normal TF035 were fitted to, but i have a feeling it was the older ones ?? I know a few owners swap it out for the TD04, and infact i think some came with a TD04, the STI forester had a VF41.

Ollieh17
I ran my tf035 from a forester at 0.8bar on a standard ecu and full boost by 3000rpmish
Turbo Goose
I reckon ive got a list saved on my home computer with a list of imprezas and foresters with part numbers and turbo variations. Ill try dig it out.Mine made 229bhp at 1.1bar on a tf035. Full boost at 3.1k rpm. Would deffo recommend one for an unforged engine

daniel_g
That number sounds like a difference in comp housing, just like the TD04 having a 13t or a 19t. I guess it would be the same for the TF035.
DamianGemmell
The tfo35 came in the first gen forester s turbo called the sf. standard upgrade for that forester was to go for a td04 from a wrx impreza straight swap. I had a forester with a tf035 and it really was lacking top end. Edited September 11, 2014 by DamianGemmell
Chops
The tfo35 came in the first gen forester s turbo called the sf. standard upgrade for that forester was to go for a td04 from a wrx impreza straight swap. I had a forester with a tf035 and it really was lacking top end. yeah, the impreza wagons got td04s and the saloons got td05s, only physical engine difference between the wrx and the sti for years was the ecu, although some of the later mk1 stis got forged internals as standard for a while iirc. Peeps always want the turbo bigger than the one they got lol. ive got a tf035 now, its the right size but looks a mess, i might have liamd on here rebuild it for the peace of mind.
