noisey top end. reshimming needed?

Hi there,

My glanza is quite noisey topend im suspecting that my valve clearances are off,

Its done 1800miles since forged and the head rebuilt so I dont fink the sound can be piston slap?

My question is what clearance should all of the new shims be at? Or do they vary?

So for example all my intake side shims are getting replaced do all of them need to have the same clearances?

Are these values right:

Exhaust 0.012 inches - 0.016

Intake 0.006 inches - 0.010

Define noisy? As in tapping?

I thought all shims and buckets were the same. I also imagine they all have the same tolerances. Not sure what those tolerances are though.

Very unusual for a starlet top end to be noisey.

we all know about icv/injector hum but noisey is a bit worrying

Doesnt the inlet cam gear need tensioning other wise you get a rattle? I might be wrong on this though

How would you tension it? I thought they just lined up with each other in the appropriate marked teeth and that was that lol

yes correct before removing the cams you lock the inlet cam with a m6 bolt which is spring loaded it this isnt done you will have a rattly top end,.

but if it was that it would of done it from day one so it wont be this
