Ollieh17
Engines out and all been tidied up and bay sprayed. Seems a shame to put the dirty wiring loom back in place. My plan is to remove the old conduit and tape. Just wondered if people have done this and what material they used? It cant be a solid loop as not planning on removing all the plugs. I have seen a wiring tape clothe that looks good? Anyone tried this stuff?
_shaun_
I just used black electrical tape same as it comes wrapped in. You get some nice braided covers but would require the plugs to be removed
Ollieh17
Yeh electricl tape isnt the best looking. This clothe tape is supposedly what they use on new cars, may give it a tryLink herehttp://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=221360583733
Whitenoize
Boost junkies do kits of the conduit no need to take all the plugs of as the conduit splits down the middle
_shaun_
Aye seen it on the inside of a lot of vag cars dunno how well it holds up in the engine bay. Think sadly wires are just doomed to be ugly. As I say the braided covers look realy nice but for the hassle of cutting and redoing plugs think just aswell doing a full wire tuck
Ollieh17
Yeh would love braided covers but cba with the effort. Its not a show car, just want it to look quite nice.

daniel_g
I bought some black cloth tape on ebay and redone the injector wiring harness, its sticky on one side and obviously sticks to itself. Looks ok and quite subtle.Something like ebay number 111465794914
The Toffinator
You can buy the wide Insulation tape, thats quite good and looks smooth

Looks ok and quite subtle.Something like ebay number 111465794914Yeh thats the stuff, maybe alright for small bits but thinking not so good for the main loom. Must be reaonsably again if they use it on new audis, jags etc
daniel_g
Ive seen it on almost every new-ish car there is.Seems ok stuff that i got but then again ita seen 0 miles so pretty unteasted hahaIf youre doing the full engine harness then the thicker width the better really. Ollieh17
On the main look to battery etc i will probably use normal insulation tape and conduit
AdamB
Conduit is good but don't buy the coloured stuff, ie blue or red as it fades and goes white with the heat in the engine bay, just stick to black.
Ollieh17
Yeh only black rest looks takky! Any opinions on the tape?
fiddlersport
I used the proper wiring loom tape, its expensive but does a good Jobits called scapa
TimD
I used loom tape, looks ok. I wanted to remove all the plugs and sheaf it using the braided stuff, but figured for something that isn't seen it's not worth the risk of wiring up something the wrong way and introducing a short.
