mark1991 Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 I was talking to a friend with a bmw that does a good amount of drift days, and got talking about the power steering overheating problems they have.He told me that they strip down the rack and remove all internal seals (as you won't end up pushing the left over fluid or air around the remaining pipes/rack) and then they fit a grease nipple and fill them of greaseWhat do you guys think? I cant see this being a problem?? Quote
maddox710 Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Probably a good idea, when I took pump of mine it was a bit to heavy but after I put the saxo pump on with a switch even turned off it feels better filled with fluid, so I can't see why not Quote
mark1991 Posted April 28, 2015 Author Posted April 28, 2015 Hmmm I will see how I get on this weekend Hmmm I will see how I get on this weekend Quote
morgey Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 I think the ae86 rack also had a large nut on it that allowed for tightening and loosening something on the rack to make the steering heavier or lighter Quote
mark1991 Posted April 28, 2015 Author Posted April 28, 2015 Hmm interesting, any idea when you seen this?? Quote
morgey Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Was on the web years ago, I've tried finding it since but never managed unfortunately Quote

Flaminsam Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 I just fitted an ep80 steering rack and steering column to my ep82. Can't just fit the rack as the u/j on the manual rack are bigger than the pas rack. Quote
rwdrev Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 uj and joint on the end of the column is longer than a p/s setup. im going back to p/s so the missus can drive it Quote
