jordan walker Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Has anybody else had problems with the ball joint touching the disk on the wilwood 4 pot setups? It makes a horrible grinding noise when cornering hard and I don't have a clue what I can do about it other than grind the ball joint away abit but want to make sure there isn't an easy fix before I go grinding shit that I need? jordan walker Posted May 6, 2015 Author Posted May 6, 2015 Few pictures of how close the ball joint is to the disk and the mark its making :/ Quote
Rob H@RCH Engineering Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 It was a common problem with all the willwood kits, but not all ball joints are the same some clear some dont, but a rub with a grinder on the bit of the ball joint that fouls will cure it! Quote
jordan walker Posted May 6, 2015 Author Posted May 6, 2015 Wheel bearing not collapsed has it?I didn't think of that actually surely I would have noticed it though if it was that bad? Quote

WallaceGlanza Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 It's non genuine ball joints that are the problem. Had to grind mine down too. Quote
Keri-WMS Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Just to point out the obvious, take REALLY easy when modifying the balljoint guys! I hate balljoints, they are always 1mm too close for some ideal disc I'd like to use on some random car's kit..... Quote
Glanza-Ben Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 In the second picture it looks likes your wheel is rubbing aswell on something Quote
jordan walker Posted May 6, 2015 Author Posted May 6, 2015 Cheers guys and I'll have a look at that wheel aswell ben thanks dude Quote
Keri-WMS Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Well spotted, that's the caliper touching the wheel and milling a groove into the base of the spokes! When you get the wheel off make sure you check it out properly, and probably get someone to blend it smooth again - aluminium hates stress raisers and the base of the spokes isn't a good place to have one... Mad Mike EP82 Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 As said non gen are the problem. You can run camber bolts to get more clearance. Quote
