Original Toyota Starlet Front Fogs

Recommended Posts

Anyone seen these before or had any experience with them or even got a proper picture of them on a car? Never even knew they were available but my local toyota dealer has got some on there wanting £116 for them (fair price?). Do you think id be able to fit them myself if i got them?

Found a crap pic of what they look like so you know what i mean.

thats the only pic i have of them too.

yes they are genuine, Joz has seen them only about twice on the jap auctions, if u can get your hands on a set then get them man! would be VERY unique, i'd be tempted to get a set too if they cropped up (tho £116 is a bit silly but typical toyota) and run two sets of front fog lights lol!

in THEORY the wiring should be there somewhere as it was a factory option, but wot i would DEARLY love to know, is wot did the OEM button or control for them look like! it wouldnt have been wired into the rear as thats not how fogs seem to be wired in general, they seem to be seperate (like the glanza), and the glanza had the front fog control on one of the indicator stalks....so WHERE OH WHERE was the OEM n/a front fog light control??????????????????????????????????

i know it seems a bit fussy to think about that but its been buggin me for months!!!!!!!!

mine are wired into the sidelights (for gay posing purposes).

i was schneaky schneaky when it came to controllin them, as the n/a doesnt have a hi/lo boost button there is a blanking plate in the hole to the left of the hazard lights button on the centre consol. now, as there are no other buttons for fogs that appear to be an exact and direct plug in fit wot is???? i shall tell u!!!

a rear window demister button! as the shape of the entire unit is identical to a hi/lo boost button it fits straight in, no random lookin bodged buttons needed, plus it looks really symetrical as u then have the same button on either side of the hazard light button!

so thats where mine is wired into! i can get the orange light to work that tells u the lights are on (same as when the rear window heater is on there is a small square orange light in the button), but for some reason i cant get the symbol on the button to light up with the rest of the dash lights, really annoying! (yes, i am THAT fussy!).

Thats a mint idea with the button. If yours are wired into the sidelights does it mean you fogs come on everytime you turn the sidelights on or can you still control them seperate even though they are wired that way? Sorry for all the questions.

whoops, forgot to add, i had a pro wire mine, a rally wiring specialist, i suck with wirin. he's £25 per hour, but it didnt cost much to do these as mark had them already fitted.

no no they dont always come on, they are controlled from the button.

let me explain:

to turn your STOCK rear fog light on you must have your full lights turned on, it will not come on with just the side lights turned on, it must be the main lights themselves, and u can turn the rear fog on and off with the button to the right of the steering wheel.

well its the same with the front fogs on my car, only i can turn them on with just the sidelights switched on, i dont have to have the main lights on to use my fog lights. the sidelights must run on a different circuit to the mainlights, hence u can select the two indivdually, well the fog lights are spliced into the sidelight circuit to draw their power, and are controlled then using the button.

trust me, if u take it to a wirin pro whoknows wot they're doin and say, wire them into my sidelights please, here's a button to wire them up to aswell, he will know wot u mean.

Well I bought the fogs but wont get them till the begining of march as there a bday present.

Anyway ive just had a look under the bonnet and noticed there is a plug thats not connected to anything, its right infront of the radiator. Now im thinking that this must be for the front fogs cant think of anything else it could be. Anyone know what it is for sure? Im hoping its going to be a case of pluging the fogs into this plug then tracing it back to find where the switch must go? If anyone know where the switch is in the loom please let me know.

Im hoping they will come with instructions with them being proper toyota parts. Oh and if anyone wants the part number for them I have that too although im not sure how easy it is for toyota to get them.

The part number is as follows: PZ417-P0510-00

Now the plug i am on about i think will be on ever n/a incase people wanted front fogs. Its straight infront of the radiator. If you look you will see a black cable that has a plug on the end. Hope its for the fogs. If anyone knows please let me know. Im sure it must go back into the car and then i can just put a switch on the end. Im kinda hoping the fogs come with a switch aswell.

Hi guys

Well here goes for my first UKSC post!

I'll do a write up on my car in the new members section.

I am currently working in a toyota parts department for my sins! and have looked at a set of these fogs for my own vehicle. They should be pretty easy to fit if you ask the right questions when you pic them up! the system the dealer would have used to find the number is EAPM and listed with the items will be a fitting instruction PDF.so when you pick them up ask them if they would be kind enough to print of a copy. i'd imagine the toyota time to fit would be about 2 hours and would maybe invole removal of the front bumper. but if you get the instuctions then it shoul be quite easy!

hope this helps
