AE92 Owner - 4E-FE Noob

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

Signed up to tap into some expert knowledge. I'm a Motorsport Engineering Student with Wiltshire College/Bath University and am the proud owner of two very broke E9 Corolla's - a 1989 AE92 GT-i16 with a busted oil pump, currently undergoing a 2ZZ-GE conversion - and a 1991 EE90 Liftback GL which is the main concern, currently undergoing a 4E-FE conversion which I need some help with!

Here's the GTi - you may have seen it at JapFest or JAE in the brief periods where it isn't totally shagged:

It's unfortunately rotting away a little in a garage in the suburbs while I piece together funds and detailed wiring plans for the conversion for a Corolla T-Sport 2ZZ-GE engine.

And the Liftback which is undergoing major surgeries:

It's not the most up-to-date picture but I will eventually post the full build thread when I get an evening to go through the pages back on my own Forum. :)

I hope it's not too much of a piss-take to sign up simply to ask for help - I am stuck out at Uni unless I get this thing done in just over a week so I'm getting desperate for quick, specialist knowledge :)

Welcome mate :) that AE92 is a beaut, she'll fly with a 2ZZ in her.

You're definitely in the right place for 4E help, it's disgusting how much some of the guys and girls on here know about these engines.

Thank you mate, it was a long haul getting it up to standard after being a wreck. Started working on it when I was 14 - had two weeks in her then the oil pump blew! :( Will be a monster once I finish the conversion. :)

That's exactly what I was hoping for! Thanks :)

Thanks for the welcome Colin.

Welcome along, recognise you from a few corolla forums. Know all about 4age 16v oil pump issues haha i had one go after 75miles :(

Sure we'll be of some help for you for the conversion, and if the sills or rear arches ever go i think I've got some ae92 replacement panels floating about :)

Got a soft spot for AE92's, looks awesome! And I bet that'll be fun with a 2zz :)

Liftback looks sweet too! You'll find more than you need on here

Thanks Steve - I don't know why but when I was 14 I fell in love with them and bought the GTi within an hour of seeing it. If you're interested I can post the full build for that as well - just don't want to tread on any toes given I'm not a Starlet owner.

Thanks on the Liftback too - she's a total bag but she is my bag and has taught me a lot, mostly about carburettor and welding. :p

Thank you :) Yeah I get around a bit on different Forums. Started out on Toyota Owners Club but after being constantly whinged at by moderators I moved on and started up the AE92 Owners Club. At around the same time I joined CCUK and have been a minor contributor for some time there :)

I may have to take you up on that once the bank account says yes. I have tackled the structural rust but there is some to be done cosmetically to put it politely!

Welcome along

Thanks for the welcome :)
