TimD
Need to load my car onto a trailer and push it around, problem is I don't have an engine or gearbox currently. If I separate the drive shafts from the CV joints can I push it around without causing any problems? Cheers
Ep82gi
Just take the shafts out completely from the hubs buddy you don't have to split them. It will be fine to push around or winch on a trailer
Socks
If shafts are still in use some bungees to hold them up and level. Only for going slow mind!
TimD
Just take the shafts out completely from the hubs buddy you don't have to split them. It will be fine to push around or winch on a trailer That is likely to damage the wheel bearing, no?
StuDoc 72
No that wouldn't do any damage at all. Pull the shafts right out the hub and then you can push it down a hill if you want lol.
daniel_g
Just dont tow it with no shafts in or then you will fuck the wheel bearings.Pushing it around though you'll be fine.
morgey
Yeah small movements with no engine etc will be fine. But if youre worried and have the shafts do as socks said for peice of mind
funny onion
I've moved mine about with shafts in and out. Prefer to move them with shafts in though, either split the shaft at the cv or just tie wrap them up so they can still turn. Unlikely to do any damage
olidaviesuk
If you're really worried get a couple of cheep eBay special outer CV's - I've seen them go for £10, and torque them up properly, can then tow/move around without the bearings collapsing if you need to move it any distance
Russleh
Just don't let someone try tow it away without any or some poor wheelie bin will get mowed down by a wheel lol
