interloper393
Hey guys have you changed the rack or kept the same one? If you've kept ed it what have you done to the steering g rack Cheers
funny onion
easier to put a manual rack from an EP80 or non PAS EP91 because the ratio is right for the manual set up.
morgey
I looped the lines and hate it. Way to heavy for normal driving. Going to put a electric pump on as i cant fit a belt driven one with my engine.
Ollieh17
I left mine open as never got round to looping it. Ended up breaking the car anyway. Didn't bother me at all, fine when driving just slightly difficult when parking. Not that much worse than my car now that is non power steering from factory
interloper393
So who's selling a rack lol
Ollieh17
Try it without first mate! I was put off by what everyone said but was suprised when i actually did remove the pump. Its only a small car at the end of the day
maddox710
I put a saxo pump on a switch and found it dangerously light
interloper393
Yeah I l8ke it without, took the belt off n had a week with it
StuDoc 72
What did people use for looping it? One of the existing pipes? It shouldnt be bad its a tiny wee car if you cant handle it get an electric pump or get down the gym lol.
interloper393
You can get a braided pipe n fittings made for £20 or you rubber hoses and jubilee clips.
morgey
I have got a 4age over my front wheels which might make a bit of difference to weight, plus i have a daily car with the same engine and Ps, which i enjoy how it feels and feeds back. Thats the reason i hate mine so much.I cut and looped the pipe that was there. Then put a longer one on as it had kinked up a bit but that made no difference to the feel. StuDoc 72
Theres pipes that go from either end of the rack so I didn't think you had to loop it I have 2 sump plugs that are the right thread im just going to fire them on there so there isn't a dirty looped pipe. daniel_g
I ran it looped and ended up putting it all back on.
Flaminsam
I've got an ep80 rack on my gt. The ep80 rack is a higher ratio than the original 82 rack. I love it. You will also need the steering column to go with it as the 80 rack has a different spline diameter and is also further away so the original column is too short. interloper393
So ep80 rack and ep80 steering colum? I've sore the rack but no steering column
Flaminsam
Yea. left is the ep80 steering column and right is the ep82 steering column.
interloper393
Buddy bet there impossible let to find :s
funny onion
He got that from our local scrapyard. there will be EP80's knocking about in scrapyards. I used to have an EP80 without power steering (i gave it to sam so we still have it) and i hated it. so hard to park. felt shit driving as well really. i know it's track slag points and each to their own but i literally hated it. interloper393
Surely you could just cut and weld a piece to extent the existing colum shaft Just seen splines are diff too
