glanza ep91 23 Posted January 25, 2016 Author Posted January 25, 2016 Im also wondering is there two types of trd diffs because im only seeing trd mechanical diffs online and are these the only ones they sell and will that kit in the link rebuild those diffs.thanks Quote
AdamB Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 They do a helical and plated diff. The helical's are rare as rocking horse piss. Quote
morgey Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Everyone claims the oem toyota helicals to be Trd ones. Like the Mr-s and levin diffs, seen quite a few sold as trd and theyre identical to the ones found in levin/truenos Quote

morgey Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 But are they a trd diff? Do trd take them and stamp them up or do they supply toyota with them?Or are they 2 separate units? Quote
gorganl2000 Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 But are they a trd diff? Do trd take them and stamp them up or do they supply toyota with them?Or are they 2 separate units? i can't say with any certainty...but it seems that they are the exact same unit you could always try to cross reference the parts numbers on maybe toyodiy.com if you could find a levin/mr-s chassis to use---a model fitted with lsd as stock Quote
Stu Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 It could be that the helical units are a factory option supplied by TRD? Quote
gorganl2000 Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 It could be that the helical units are a factory option supplied by TRD? i suspect so stu....cause they seem to be very similar items if not the exact same Quote
Stu Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 That's my guess then. They are much softer acting lsd's than the clutch type unit Quote
gorganl2000 Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 yes stu. the helical i have in my car is to rather "daily driver friendly"...drives normal under general conditions, but comes on nicely when needed and you will know its there for sure....easy maintenance and regular gearoil for the odd track purposes i'd say it would be ok....but if the driver is a hardcore track enthusiast then id recommend a more dedicated lsd when i tried to find the part number for oem which it appears is 41301-12190 whereas trd part number is 41301-AE000 Quote
