NEW TO SITE - IN DIRE NEED OF HELP :(

Recommended Posts

Hi guys I am i need of some friendly advice. I really hope I can get it here.

I recently purchased a Toyota Starlet from Ebay and owned it now for near enough 1 year.

The car has been fantastic for this time but I've encountered some problems the last month or so and now it has gotten serious.

At first i was burning oil so i thought the pistons were the cause so took engine apart to check

Now I've discovered the main end bearings are snapped? - I've been told these are not replaceable? Is this a fact?

Do I now need a new bottom end or New Engine?

Please any advice is hugely appretiated.

If any one can point me in the right direction - Locate me a good reasonably priced engine then I would be greatful.

Here is my baby - That needs to be back on the road asap

I will get pics of the snapped bearings later - for referance

You can replace the main end caps but you would need to have them line bored to suit the engine which will cost alot of money. cheaper to find another engine to drop in whats the power of the car? And how often do you service it. it's the torque that snaps the main caps. Hope this helps nick. also welcome to Ukso enjoy your stay :)

You can rebuild the engine, all the parts you need are still available (and we stock everything).

By the way, that's my old car.

i am not a mechanic - i dont no where to start -

yes i would get a diferent bottom end in your case

if the 4efte is to expencive you could always fit a 4efte bottom end and run low ish boost till you can source a sound engine or get 1 build

its al about what your budget is if it was me and you had a mechanic friend then i would get a 4efe and fit your current turbo rods and pistons to the 4efe with a new set or rings and conrod bearings and be done
