This should prove a huge point of what these nippy 4EFE's can do, Dont underestimate what can be extracted from a naturally aspirated engine, Its a light engine and with detail in the right areas should bring out a fair little weapon Watch this space Gary
-
Ok, well it's not going to do any harm changing it, halfords should be ok as long as it's 79w90, If it doesn't sort it then it can be looked into more but oil is the cheapest option Gary
-
I would check gear box oil first, If it's dirty, the wrong viscosity or not enough, It will have a two thick oil film for the synchronesh to cut through, Change that if you have any doubts, to 75w90 Does it have a factory or aftermarket LSD? As that requires different oil Hope this helps Gary

Nice parts you got there, As for the Drive shaft seal, the chances are a toyota dealer would charge 1-2 hours for a seal so it may come to £120 for labour plus parts on top but thats just an estimate of around £60 an hour. The rear shoes are inside the drum and will maybe be another hour of labour, my suggestion is maybe to get an independant garage to do the work, they wont charge half as much as a main dealer. The manifold is easy to fit and you could do it yourself, just 6 bolts and 2 brackets to get it off, one PCV valve hose and an earth, think thats all that involved,

Right got these compression readings from the Toyota 4EFE workshop manual, All cylinders should be 185 psi (1,275 kPa, 13.0 kgf/cm2) or more, with no more than a 14 psi (98 kPa, 1.0 kgf/cm2) difference between the cylinders Your car is more than fine Liam Hope this helps Gary

**best Servicing Products To Use On Glanza**
ToyotaTech15 replied to glanzapower's topic in MOT & Maintenance
For whose information? I know toyota don't make parts that's why I said supply and not make I agree with G, and in my opinion toyota genuine parts are far superior to blueprint etc, I am just trying to get the lad the best parts for money, Also I have never had a toyota part that doesn't fit where as I've had loads of blueprint brakes etc that are wrong and don't fit Gary -
**best Servicing Products To Use On Glanza**
ToyotaTech15 replied to glanzapower's topic in MOT & Maintenance
Hi mate, I would say genuine toyota parts would be your best bet, toyota supply a 5 litre bottle of 10w40 motor oil For gearbox oil it will be 75w90 unless its fitted with a factory/aftermarket LSD, Genuine denso spark plugs are also worth getting Also a genuine oil filter, Depending on how big a service you are doing there will be things like, Fuel filter Coolant Timing belt kit Brake fluid And inspection of distributor cap and rotor arm as they can become worn over time and often get ignored. They would be the main items unless you are looking for anything else Hope this helps Gary -
Wanted 4efte Gearbox Rebuild Kit
ToyotaTech15 replied to *greg*'s topic in Drivetrain & Transmission
You can get everything seperate from toyota, obv the gears which are fixed to the shaft will require a whole new shaft if they are damaged, Also snap rings and circlips, will need to be measure if replacing as there are about 8 choices of snap rings for the box. I could get you a price on parts but as they are so small and there are so many of them a trip to toyota yourself would be the best option, If you confirm parts and give me part numbers i can get discounted prices but its maybe not worth the hassle. Hope this helps Gary -
@ dale, nope never heard oh him? What year is he in as there is a apprentice train centre and adult one both in notts. @ Baz, it's working on cars lol, I thought you were being cheaky Gary
-
Right guys, I've spoken to my lecturer as I'm at college just now and he says that the only way to get on this scheme is to be employed by a toyota dealership, It's an expensive course, like 30k to train me for 3 years an I come to Nottingham science park to the toyota academy for two week blocks every 3 or 4 months, The training is excellent as are the facilities, I can post a few pictures up of the place Any more questions just ask Cheers Gary
-
Hi mate, I'm a 3rd year apprentice technician for toyota Pm me if you want to know anything Gary
