£1150 with 12 months mot, 6 months tax, needs some jobs doing but mechanically it's great. The B16A1 is about 150bhp standard, but this has got a few mods.
-
Yeah tried those, but due to my age (18) many specialist companies are still expensive whereas if I'm 19 it's alot cheaper. And with it only being 6 months away I'm considering waiting. As it's going to be £1000 cheaper and it's winter now anyway so I could keep the CRX away from the rain/snow/grit. As for being a named driver it's a load of rubbish, I've always been on my own policy, being a named driver is pointless now anyway as insurance companies have cottoned onto it and the prices are the same wether you're the main driver or not.

Oh I should have mentioned this in the first post. I had atleast 10 quotes for around £1000 - £1100 on some comparison sites which is reasonable. So I thought oh yeah that's sorted I can afford that, but then when it comes to actually buying the insurance they turn round and say no we can't do it. (And that's atleast 5-10 companies not just one). I haven't bought a car without looking into it first, and since buying it I've been non stop looking for cheaper quotes but it's no good. @ japcarmaniac - the reason I had to buy a new car was because my old Starlet was wrote off

I recently bought a Honda CRX but I'm having a hell of a job to find cheap insurance for it, the cheapest I've found is like £2800. It's my birthday in June and I did a quote what it would be for then and it's around £1500-1800, so atleast £1000 cheaper. So I'm considering buying another N/A Starlet to use for 6 months. But it's going to cost £1000+ to insure the Starlet and then roughly £40 a month to store the CRX if I can find somewhere local as I don't have a drive or garage. So I'm stuck on what to do, pay an arm and a leg to insure the CRX now,

The title says "T1R or Proxes". I'm being picky.
-
T1R's ARE Proxes. ("Toyo Proxes T1R") But I'd get T1R's over PX4's any day. I haven't tried Rainsports so can't comment on them, but I have tried T1S and T1R and would definately recommend T1R's. @ Rick - I didn't think think they were that bad in the wet, until the tread got low. Where do you buy the Rainsports from because camskill only have them in 16 inch?
-
Well it's not neccessarily just the prices it's the amount of parts available, it's like the B series is very popular so you can get parts anywhere. You still pay high prices for the parts but usually they're good parts that come from big companies, rather than just some cheap copy or badly made/designed.

Until someone does some serious R&D it's going to be shit for N/A Starlet's. It's like if you want an exhaust manifold, you have no idea what to do because you can buy one that's made for the 5E but then nobody knows how it's going to perform because hardly anyone has tried it, and 4EFE specific manifolds are few and far between. It's going to take either someone with alot of money to just buy a load of parts and try them (which nobody with half a brain is going to do because if you've got money to waste like that the chances are you're going to be driving a GT/Glanza). OR someone to do

All I need doing is the bottom bit where it says WWW.UKSTARLETCLUB.COM changed to: ste91 - Honda CRX In the same font and colour. Thanks.

I looked into all this a while back. You wont need to touch the injectors for now as they are more than capable at doing their job. Before doing anything give the engine a full service and oil change, so that you know it's running properly. (If you haven't already). I wouldn't bother with the Glanza S ECU or injectors, there's always loads of discussion about them but they seem a waste of time to me. If you're really serious about spending money on a non turbo Starlet then the first step on any car is the breathing mods which you've already got some of them. (Air intake, inlet manifold, exha

195's will look "fat" enough compared to those little ones on the steelies. Trust me you will not be disappointed with the Toyo's. The tyres are the only bit of contact between the car and the road, so spend money where it counts.
-
Convince your parents to get you the Toyo Proxes, they're well worth the extra money. http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m4b0s99p1667 £27.95 each plus delivery, here's a little review I did on these tyres a while back: http://www.ukstarletclub.com/forums/index....showtopic=22501

Spend a little bit more and make it worth while, camskill are doing Toyo Proxes T1R's in 195/50/15 for £30 each at the minute, fucking bargain!

I'm going to have nightmares.

Welcome to UKSC mate I live not far from B'ham just up the road in Kidderminster.

True, but then once you're at higher boost levels the pipe diameter and core size become a restriction.
-
When a turbo compresses air it also heats it up. The most basic thing that most people know is colder air is denser and contains more oxygen which allows you to burn more air/fuel mixture and in turn create more power. So the air goes into the turbo, gets compressed, which heats it up, then passes through the intercooler and cools back down. The reason for upgrading the standard intercooler is that once you go past standard boost levels it becomes inefficient. Another reason is that top mounted intercoolers suffer from heatsoak as they are directly above the hot engine. A large core/long pip

Apparently it used to have a skunk2 exhaust system on there, but was replaced with another system because it was too loud! ;) Which I suppose is a good thing really as it's even got one of those screw in silencers in the backbox and it's still fairly loud once you hit the pedal, I'm not sure the neighbours would appreciate it if it was any louder. It's really nice and easy to drive though, infact it feels very similar to a Starlet, the pedal layout is the same, the gearbox feels similar, the only thing is it's got keep-fit steering which will probably take some getting used to after being

cheers for the comments There was previously some rust around the arches which was repaired, there's just a tiny patch on each rear arch now but I'll sort that before it gets any worse. Insurance is being a right bastard, more expensive than a GT. It's got the typical leaky bootlid and ripped front seats (I'm on the lookout for some good condition ones), aswell as some stupid things like someone has painted ONE of the calipers red... lol But I think I got it at a decent price and it will be a well sorted car once the little jobs are fixed.

Who mentioned roads. -
Cheers for the comments. Will have to get it cleaned and polished as soon as we get a half decent day where it's not pissing down or freezing cold but not much chance of that these days.

I had 45's and they were fine. Once I'd lowered it I was glad I'd gone with 45's.
