  3. i did say check the block in my post did i not?, white smoke could also be valve stem seal related, on idle there becomes a build up of oil and upon acceleration it gets burnt up coursing white/blue plooms of smoke. but this is unlikely as performance wouldn't be to greatly effected. check all air intakes for blockages.
  4. sounds like the turbo is fucked my dear friend- seals are likely to have gone, also have a look around the bottom of your engine block and over your gearbox for excess oil as your may have headgasket problems. do you have a standard bov or aftermarket? if aftermarket look for oil being spluttered out that's another good indicator that the turbo id fubarbd
  5. lol yeah the stickers got rubbed off in the accident lol, nah the guy at the garage said they would just refurb the alloy as only the paint was damaged now just waiting for the insurance guys to get back to me to give me a date to get it in the garage for repairs- and i get some crappy hire car as the v is a 1.3 that means i will get a little nissan or corsa lol
  6. lol yeah that looks pretty tight, will give it a go and see what i can do, cheers for the help mate.
  7. yeah if you could get a quick piccy that would be cool, tried cable tying it before but didn't do allot perhaps i didn't have ti tight enough
  8. nah that wasnt touched lol. i was shitting myself as i knew i hadn't declared some of the mods, it's not that i wasn't intending on but a few had only just gone on and i was actually in the process of getting it done this week but this happened today so yeah was shitting it abit. everything is being declared now down to the smallest detail lol car has got to go tomorrow and be assessed to see how much it will cost to repair, only needs a new front arch and a alloy refurb but hopefully they will se it the same way.
  9. just got a call from his insurer, her claimed liability so should all go through ok nd the only after market thing he damaged was the alloy which is delcaired anyway so fingres crossed
  10. i know hopefully everything will be ok, there are some bits on my car which i hadn't got round to informing the insurers about so fingers crossed it hasn't voided my insurance, luckily my insurers no about my alloys nd there the only after market bit he damaged
  11. Right gunna vent some steam right now as i am soooo annoyed! was on the way to uni came up to a roundabout looked right as you do and was waiting for a gap so i could pull out, as i pulled out there was some crazy Chinese guy driving at me going the wrong way around the roundabout!!! i had only just pulled out and he drove straight into my front passenger side arch and scratched up my spotless white rota alloy. what a complete nugget! i think i scared him a bit as i wheel span round the corner jumped out my car and started shouting at him lol poor bugger didnt know what was doing on. once i
  12. could just be burning up the excess crap from fitting the mani and decat, when i fitted my decat it smoked for a little while then got better, if it continues or gets worse it could be the seals in the turbo which have gone. give a little while and watch to see if it gets worse.
  13. how tight did you have to cable tie the hose? i have quite a small vac line would i benefit from getting a larger diameter hose then cable tying that?
  14. aaahhh really that's a bugger i'm sure the first gen version had an adjustable spring setting, the gen two must be different. oh well still sounds nice.
  15. you need a rrfpr at a minimum to set up the fueling with a fcd, if you want to run alot of boost and power a boost controller or advanced fuel controller will help
  16. a silver v drove past me the other day, dont know if it was you or not glanza87?
  17. i dont have it, that was an old photo, but it wasnt connected then either. bump for wanting flutter
  18. i'm from Hatfield mate, so you are like 5 minutes away. there are a few f us going from herts do you can cruise up with us lol
  19. hey buddy whereabouts you from in herts,?
  20. if it's a genuine grade 4, it will be fairly clean through out. just really make sure the engine is running over smooth check for oil around the bottom of the block etc. looks nice.
  21. every turbo has a wastegate, and external one is exactly what it says- it is an externally gated wastegate for that turbo, they are bigger stronger and can hold a larger amount of boost with out opening. all the dump valve does is vent the excess air that the turbo doesn't need so it doesn't go back into the turbo but people like the noise it creates (chatter) so tend to block it up anyway.
  22. yeah might get a different insert, just wanted to tighten the spring so it chattered a bit on low boost.
  23. lol glad you got it sorted, but you can feel a nice improvement in throttle response
  24. on the second generation of hks bov is there anyway of adjusting the spring to be harder, on most bovs there is a dial to twist to change the tention of the spring wondering if anyone know's if it possible on a gen2 hks bov? it's an old photo but the same bov:
