SOLD Wepr tdo4l turbo kit stainless steel. purple tial
TimD replied to lew777's topic in Starlet Parts For Sale
Ignore me, just noticed this sold. -
Boil some water and stick the sensor in it and see what it reads, maybe compare it to a thermometer. Does the car smell like its getting hot?
-
Providing you manage tyre pressures the 888's are fine, especially on stuff as light as the Starlet. The heavier the car, the more they get worked, and yes they'll go off, but over work any tyre and they'll do the same.

I didn't rate the 595's in the wet when fitted to my E46. A friend of mine recently bought a set of 595's to use at track days rather than wear the Kumho V70's he uses for racing, but back to back saw very little difference in times over a dry lap. R888's at 67 a throw http://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyres/toyo/proxes-r888/195-50-r15-82v-190926

Mine is 4mm, I got it from here http://www.cwp-optiglaze.com/ they had a handy little calculator, and online order form which seems to have gone missing? I ordered 2 sheets of 4mm Lexan Exell D UV with the following dimensions: Width: 1050 , Length: 520 Think it was about 50 quid or so Going to measure and order for the rear windows as well in the next week or two.
-
Front windows are easy to make yourself, I think mine cost me £60 all in. Plan to make the rear 3/4's myself too, will be buying a rear screen when I get around to buying a composite rear hatch. https://ep82.wordpress.com/2015/03/11/plastic-windows/

Is it a road car? If so, don't bother you'll make it a horrible place to be.
-
Clutch master/slave cylinder, or there is just air in the system. Had this with my Pulsar, ended up having to replace the master cylinder.

Lap times?

Interested to see how you get on with the adjustable beam.. You should take pictures of what the car looks like underneath now it's been used Looking at the TSS calendar, I might see you at Croft in August if you're competing!
-
Someone will have stuffed that in there to quieten the exhaust down.
-
I had one, S14a, had a larger turbo, power fc, blitz exhaust, race logic traction control, along with a few other bits and bats. Was in a bit of a state when I bought it, think I paid £2600 for it, back in 2008/9. Kept it for 6 months or so, cleaned it up and sold at profit, be worth a bloody fortune had I kept it! Sounded dreadful though, the exhaust note is terrible on them.
-
By the time you've faffed about, you might as well fit a 20v black top.
-
They're metric M10 from memory, pretty certain the entire brake system is M10.
-
Yikes, I think you touched a nerve, Colin!! Those of you who run a EWG, how about we make a quick list? Wastegate Type, Length of use, Any problems? Eg. Tial, 2 Years, None

Pictures of the engine?

I'd have thought the only issue you'd see is leaking, or not being able to hold boost. But at the pressures we're working at (around 1bar) I doubt you'd see much difference between a £80 one and £250 for a turbosmart, but happy to be proved wrong. What they're doing isn't exactly rocket science now, is it? Sounds to me like it was fitted incorrectly, but thanks for the input.
-
Are you speaking from experience or hearsay?
-
So, how many of you run a 'cheap' EWG and have no trouble what so ever with its performance? Struggling to see the merit in spending £200+ on something that I can get for £80 which doesn't have a fancy name stamped into it, or am I missing the point, and the cheap ones are truly terrible?
-
What effect will changing the compressor wheel have on the TF?
-
Well, you can compare them. Because I know that at higher boost my setup didn't make much more HP. The lower graph is mine, it's from when my car was mapped, perhaps I should have said that. It's clear to see that the boost characteristics of the TF fitted to a 4efte are similar to that of a hybrid, which is what I was looking for. I don't want to lose responsiveness for the sake of a few more HP, but it seems if I fit the TF I can have my cake and eat it too. Out of interest, what manifold and exhaust do you have?
-
CT9 peaks at about 12psi TF035 peaks at about 13psi The figures on the CT9 graph are at the hubs The figures on the TF graph are calculated fly wheel figures Peak power on the CT9 @ around 11psi of boost is ~ 138hp at the hubs (160 at the fly?) Peak power on the TF @ around 13psi of boost is 195 at the fly (162 at the wheels?) Will @ RDT did comment that my Zisco manifold could be causing a certain amount of restriction due to the size of its runners, and we saw very little change in peak power with more boost which is why it was left at around 11psi rather than a bar. I do see

Found this on KBonds build thread If we compare that to mine using a TONGS
