And to add insult to injury, I sheared one of the bolts which holds the cap on seeing if it all lined up with Cylinder 1. Fuck

Thought this would be easy! Set the dizzy to where it was before I had it apart, put the car into diagnostic mode, shone the light, and it looked about 10 degrees out. Adjusted it to the right marks, but the dizzy is almost at the end of it's travel and that to me doesn't seem right. It has to be rotated almost fully anti clockwise to be at 10 degrees BTDC. No error codes, and I've tried to bridge the TPS but this made no difference. Car has EMB fitted if that makes a difference? Cheers Tim

It's not oil level, it's oil pressure. If the light comes on when you're driving, you're in trouble.

As titled, ideally black but happy to get it painted if needs be.. Cheers

I have Team Dynamics Pro Race 2, and OZ Super Turismo's, both 15x7 which clear the WMS 275 kit with no drama. Standard offset as far as I'm aware, will need to double check.

It's running. Flushed coolant through, changed oil and it seems to be all clear. It seems to be running ok, had it up and down the little industrial estate road and it drove ok. Hopefully going to get it in for a sniff test and have the ignition timing checked in the next couple of days!

There are no visible signs of an external leak, well not that I can see and having read that before firing it up that was on my list of things to check. Heading over to work on the car in about 10 minutes

Every Athena/JE gasket I've seen has the same layout so I'm not sure it's what is causing the problem, but you never know. I think I've been daft by not draining the oil and flusing the cooling system before starting it up. Tomorrow I'm going to flush as well as possible the coolant system, and also drop the oil and replace with new stuff and see if there is any change.

It's been fitted with ARP's, so 20, 40 60 lbft, head was pressure checked and skimmed 8thou. Going to flush both coolant and oil and see where that leaves me, if that doesn't solve it, head off again to figure this out.

Blocked cleaned up nice Friend of mine thinks I was too hasty getting it up and running and should have flushed everything out, will do that tomorrow and try agin.

This is how the head gasket has been fitted, thought i'd checked on here this is the correct way? Feel free to correct my dumb ass if it's not.

Thanks for that! But just as I thought, I've got them right. Gutted

As titled, spent the majority of the weekend fitting a new head gasket, get it all fired up and within minutes the water has turned into a oily mess and there's mayo on the underside of the oil cap.. I've checked and double checked the vacuum / coolant lines on the throttle body so I'm pretty sure it's not them, if someone can confirm them for me that would be great.. So If you stand on the passenger side of the car looking at the throttle body: - Far left is water - To thermostat - Next one along is water - To water pump pipe - The bent one is vacuum - The one behind that is vacuu

http://youtubedoubler.com/gOrJ Interesting to watch side by side, looks like you can carry a bit more speed through the last turn, I use 3rd through there.

Got the head off, some very slight damage to the gasket, and some weird deformation, what does everything else think? I can now see why you suggested a Athena gasket Socks! Head is away to be tested, hopefully get the findings later today.

Chassie set ups on Japans track starlets vs uk
TimD replied to abbott's topic in Performance & Track Days
Underneath mine is as I bought it from your brother, I had a basic alignment done, with -2.5 degrees of camber and that's it. I've faffed about with the dampers, but it's mostly middle of the road type stuff, softening them off if it's wet outside. I usually aim for around 30psi when hot in the tyres, I tried 28 at donington and the car felt a bit better than it did at Cadwell. Currently R888's which I think when comparing to other R rated tyres are pretty terrible things. The nose on mine likes to push a little if I go in too hot, but it can be driven around. I am in no rush to change -
Map check will consist of keepin an eye on my wideband on hanger straight!

Cheers, sending the head off to be tested and skimmed if necessary. Once that's been given the OK I'll look at ordering the bits to reassemble next weekend! Obviously if the head is knackered it's back to the drawing board and Silverstone on the 16th is off the cards. Hopefully that's not the case though!
