GoPro - MSA Hillclimb Croft - 16th April - Phil's EP82
TimD replied to Phil's topic in Video Gallery
Class rules state you can't run a proper seat and harness, or is that by choice? Car goes well! -
They already do a gearset which should fit a C52 bellhousing. It's a dream of mine to run a sequential gear kit on my car, one day.
-
I opted for a rebuild, and now can't decided whether or not to fit an Athena or OE when I put it back together.
-
The multi layer ones need absolutely fat surfaces to seal, you'll likely get away with fitting an OE one. You'll need to rebuild the bottom end if you have to any work done on the block.
-
It lasted 7 or so laps of Silverstone before expiring
-
There you go.. Mine tested as flat with a straight edge, but once it was on the machine for a proper check it needed skimming.
-
Mind did this between 3 and 4! My block wasn't flat, obviosy didn't know that before fitting it.

As above, if you'd split the turbo kit I'm interested in the waste gate.. Let me know a price if so. -
Found a copy of the Japanese workshop manual for the 4EFTE Just need to get that translated, I know a guy who can help

Hi, Trying to replace my rather bent crank pulley.. I bought a second hand one, but it's also bent so I guess I've got to try and source a new one. Does anyone have a part number for this? Ta Tim
-
Weird.. I was getting a flashing ECU light on the dash. I'll have much longer to spend on sorting it next time, so will post back here when that time comes about.
-
Not in my experience, if I revved the throttle timing changed even when in diagnostic mode. Gun is just a bog standard timing light, no adjustment.
-
I was seeing advanced 10 degrees over, I'd imagine any timing adjustment would retard timing for safety. I also guess that as soon as you put it into fixed timing/diag mode it removes that. Once I've rebuilt the engine I suspect I'm going to run into the same problem so will have to revisit it, my first port of call was to reset the tps and make sure it was working correctly.
-
In the end I just lined it up with my marks as best I could and left it. Wouldn't recommend it, but I was booked on a track day the following weekend. Unrelated, but the car lasted 7 laps of Silverstone before spectacularly blowing it's head gasket. This was down to a 'warped' block face and not timing. I think you're going to have to spend some time figuring out if the TPS is right.

Is a baffeled sump & oil cooler a must have for track use
TimD replied to tommyep82's topic in Performance & Track Days
Yeh, they seem to run pretty cool.. I suppose there's plenty of airflow around the engine with it being so small, etc. 75 would be too cool for me, I like to see upwards of 85 before I'm really happy, it's not until then that moisture in the oil would start to boil away. -

TimD replied to tommyep82's topic in Performance & Track Days
With a 16 row cooler, I struggle to get oil temperature into my car unless ambient temperatures are high, even then it's not until later in the day. If you're going to be using it on the road, then you'll also need a thermostat for the oil cooler. I find that covering half of the oil cooler with some foil works, I'm in the middle of rebuilding my engine, once that's done I'll be moving to a smaller oil cooler, and thermostat so I don't have to faff about covering the 16 row. I have a baffled sump, it's a simple thing done by RW. I'd like to move to a trapdoor style baffle system, but findi -

My car is solely used on track, the ds1.11 is a better pad than the 2500 and 3000. But that's OK, don't listen to me.
-
I get my pads from Circuit Supplies
-
They're just metric bolts, you'll get one on eBay as well.
-
You'll have to do some searching, pretty easy to get pad diagrams and dimensions you'll then need to measure what you have. As for pads, I really rate Ferodo DS1.11, good pad without having to spend an absolute fortune. I use them in my WMS calipers, and they work really well.

Just leave the interior in, it weighs bugger all anyway!
