Or at least kept them, as if it gets nasty, your gonna need proof to back up any claims you made, like putting a new engine also, I second the ragging a 8/9 year old car for five days then getting uppity. If the brakes were funny the MOT should of sorted them, and at least told about a dodgy gear box (I of course presume you used a decent/honest MOT station) Out of interest, how did he drive the car away?

Generally, rubbish If you have a nice silver car, they may work, and likewise a very dark/black car for the ones that are black inside, and they have to be neat. It's when you see the silly over the top ones on faded red corsa's, that realise that somebody hasn't thought about how they will look, when they actually get them on the car!

There are some adjuster arms under the face, but to get to them you'd have to take the mechanism out, all they do is adjust the needle rest position, (which you can change by pushing the around anyway, just mentioning for completeness)

Mine was making really bad noises yesterday and today, 2250 revs, so off I go to the garage, with metal images of valves slapping into cylinder heads It needed 1/2 a liter more oil, in it goes, still making noise, guys walks off comes back with a grubby looking screwdriver, presses the exhaust heatshield down, revs engine, noise is gone! I asked about the cambelt, 63k is what they say, my car is a 63k-something, guess what I'm having done on Friday!

Is the needle a bit off? (ie sits well below zero at stand still?) if it is take off the cowling, grope around clocks to undo the clips and take the clock covers, push the needle ANTI_CLOCKWISE until it's at zero Might also be the speedo cable, check it's on properly (head in the footwell, grope the back of the clocks to find the cable coming out and push the clip on firmly) As for recalibrating dunno, I've two sets of non speedo clocks here, the speedo mechanism is the same so I could send one over if the two bits above don't help

If your fitting a new headunit, and still have the old unit in, chances are it's sony with a crappy proprietary connection. Unlike you fancy new ISO compliment headunit, what do you do? Go to Halfords and spend £13.49 on a Toyota to ISO connector, Part no PC2-17-4 simply then plug into the back of your headunit and clip the two plugs into your Starlet dash wiring harness. You chop up the old wiring harness to connect to those DIY harness but thats a pain in the arse, and puts extra brakes into the wiring.

Welcome ;) Looks good, may I suggest a front strut bar, if you can get a second hand one there not to expensive, and you'll feel the difference in those tight corners (seriously mini-roundabouts suddenly stop being a hassle and become fun )
