Small update, picked up a spare 4efte head and cams etc, and compression tested the engine in the gt, 10 - 10.5bar across the board, so by the end of the week the 4e should be out of the gt and ready to plonk in the V -

Ragz will be getting a personal visit from me, dont worry about that, just because he lives 320miles away doesnt mean hes getting away with it! The problem is engine builders are wankers, the only trade i know where they can do a shit job and get away with it! And im going for 75mm pistons in it witht he standard 5efhe rods, they will be plenty strong enough for 1.6 bar on a td04 -

Another small update I bought a quadlight a few weeks back to fix up as an every day driver, but it seems that this is now becoming a donor for my V until the 5e is built, so today i set about stripping it down and removing the 4e to go back in my V until i can find the last few rare bits i need for my 5e Before After Ready for compression testing and engine removal tomorrow evening -

sounds like permanent live and switch live are the wrong way around?
-
you mean m16, or a 16mm spanner is what you use to do it up?
-
is the turbo timer keeping it on? i.e. when the timer finishes does the gauge go off? Sounds like switch and perm live wrong way round?

So, the engine came back from the engine builders and i set about rebuilding it back up and getting it ready to put back into the V. And it was ready to go in, so i set about sorting it out! Wahey! 5e power! So after another thorough check over etc, we took it for a slow run to start running it in. It lasted for about 9miles this time before there were clouds of smoke billowing out from the back of the car while driving. So much so people could not see the road behind me! So, I rang the engine builder and he just put the blame on to me saying "it must have been fitted wrong!" Well, a garage fitted it for me. So, we compression tested it, no issues there.... Checked the turbo, no oil in the fmic etc, so it was a little odd... So I stripped it down AGAIN, took the head etc off, and this is what i found... So i called the engine builder back about the score in the bore, and he said it must be something sucked through the engine etc or stem seals. Well, even though i can disprove all these theories... Exhaust port 3 - All other exhaust ports are clear, but the one with the score is oiling up. Inlet - 3 Completely clear... But he refuses to take responsibility for it still. So that another £750 down the pan! So while i was waiting to save enough money for ANOTHER fucking engine build i bought this to keep me occupied A few more bits got fitted the other day - Now my silver quadlight is donating a 4e gearbx and engine to go in this v as i dont have the money for building my 5e yet and i just want to drive my glanza now -

Right, So, in the hunt for more power, I decided 5e was the way to go, there is no replacement for displacement etc! So the hunt began for a 5e to build. In the mean time i did a deal on a Glanza S bonnet - I found a 5e advertised on the forum at a reasonable price which already had the 4e pistons etc in it (just standard non forged!)and newly rebuilt so i set about making a deal for it. I drove up to oldham to collect it from a member on TGTT (Ragz) a 5hr drive each way, but i didnt mind! So i collected the engine and got it home, it was clean etc so i set about that weekend to fit the engine. Having decided that "it cant be that difficult" it will be fine!" As you can see my drive isnt exactly the most ideal place to be doing this either! but is persevered with it and eventually out it came! I then set about dropping the 5e block etc in. Mistake number 5,264 - put the engine and gearbox in at the same time rather than struggle to mount the gear box afterwards... So eventually it was in there! Eventually after sorting out lots of niggly problems such as the fuel pump and a few other bits I took it to my mates garage to get it mot'd and checked over before i started it up. Found no issues etc, so he motd it and i was over the moon, passed first time! We took it for a leisurely drive to see what it was like and check for any issues and start running it in. It was all looking awesome UNTIL - I was devastated. Absolutely heart broken to say the least... It got no further than 3/4 of a mile before it span all 4 big ends. Newley rebuilt my fucking arse! So out it all came again! Now would a rebuilt engine look like this?!?!?! I am not shitting you, that engine is RUSTY! What about vice marks on the pistons?!? So after spending £650 on a fucked 5e, i was less than impressed as you can imagine... And Ragz, if your reading this, i havent forgotten about you, i will be coming to to get my money back off you one day...... So, i set about stipping it all apart again and getting it ready to go to a local engine builder with a good reputation. So while it was at the engine builders i purchased this - More to come, got more photos to upload so bare with me! -

Im just uploading more photos, taking a while as there are a few and quite alot to write about -
Right, well this is the story of my Glanza i bought back in 2009 and the trials and tribulations that come with owning these cars! Ive always wanted a Glanza ever since i was about 16 and seeing one at college as it went past with the sound of the turbo spooling, exhaust popping, and fluttering as he lifted off. I knew straight away one day i would own one! I finally managed to get one at the age of 19 after a couple of months of searching and seeing some right dogs of cars this is the one i settled on! These are the images off piston heads when i bought it... When I saw it and took it for that first test drive that was it i was hooked! Been a bit wet in the ear with turbo cars etc I checked all the usual stuff and didnt see any issues, and it was SERIOUSLY quick. When i started on the forums a bit more I realised it did have a few issues, Cracked head around the exhaust port Boosting to 1bar no fuelling mods only an fcd fitted So it turns out it was actually fitted with a jam actuator and a jam fcd, so i was only driving it on low boost mode until i could get that sorted. So i bought a hks actuator and attempted to fit that, been the first thing id ever done to my own car it took me all day, with lots of swearing, shouting and grazed knuckles. But I did it, and got it all set up without removing anything other than the weather sheild underneath the engine. Result! So I cleaned it up and took it for some photos to celebrate A few weeks after that I got in the car after it had been parked up in the public carpark over night to find a note on my windscreen, to find out someone had reversed into my V. They left a note with a phone number and explaining they only "lightly tapped" my car. And to call her and she would pay for the bumper to be sprayed. Not alot of visible damage, but scratched the bumper, dented the bonnet and broke the headlight. Rage is not the word for what i was feeling at that point in time! When i explained to the lady the extent of the damage and the fact parts are very expensive for these as its an import she tried to get out of paying me any money. So in the end i had to go through her insurance company. The insurance garage picked it up and towed it away, but the guy from the garage was really nice and agreed to cut out smooth and spray my bumper while it was off for my FMIC id ordered RESULT! So this is what it looked like when i got the car back a week or so later I was well chuffed! So on goes the fmic, my cooling panel and a ssqv dump valve, and my own home made earthing kit, (Im an electrician by trade so that was all up my street!) Not bad i considered seeing as I had never worked on any cars at all before i owned this! So I drove it like that for a little while and I made 151.6bhp at a rolling road, which is was fairly happy with. Then, the power bug bit me, and I decided i wanted more!

so what started all that crap? Couldnt give a flying fuck about whos right or wrong, i think david gaye needs a fucking punch for wasting the beer...

Well an update from saturday, Fixed most of the issues and managed to give it a quick test run- Fixed the turbo oil feed that had been stripped, had to drill it out and bolt straight through as there wasnt enough metal left to re-tap it. Replaced the rocker cover gasket as it has pissed oil out everywhere! I cant understand why lol! Head surfaces prepped and cleaned ready for repair And all finished! When i had the car running it was revving to 1500rpm with the idle screw turned all the way in and was billowing out smoke, I stripped it all back down again checked the turbo etc, then the PCV valve came off in my hand, so that was the issue! So going to block it up temporary and drive it to check the engine turbo etc!

#All i have to say is, would you give $4,500 to some twat who couldnt even spell?

Hey guys, As some of you have seen i bought a quaddie, Now ive fixed the head, leaky oil turbo feed etc etc! Now, I have MASSES of blue smoke coming out of the exhaust and a 1500rpm idle speed. Now obvious culprits, turbo, and rings. But the turbo should be brand new and ive primed it etc. And the rings dont usually produce a proper stream of blue smoke? BUT, could a broken PCV valve be the cause of this? are there is MASSIVE mounts of blue/white smoke coming out. I think it might be slightly over filled with oil so im going to let it settle and check it again and drain some out if needs be. Any other ideas? Gonna be seriously annoyed if its the turbo...

Ummm, so far the plans are replace the head, drive it until the mot runs out and then take all the bits i need for my V and scrap the rest!
-
Yeah i did mate, theres a few issues but nothing that cant be sorted, Hopefully will be back on the road in the next couple of days
