  1. What do you need to know about fitting the fuel cell. My project has a made from scratch fuel cell. I made the fuel cell so that the standard fuel gubbins could mount straight into it. Although to be honest i changed the standrad parts over and made the lot from scratch in the end My orginal plan was to use a 255lph fuel pump fitted to the standard pickup and mounted to a fuel cell, same as what nightspirit did actually. Jason
  2. Im in for 2 Don't know what to have though? Demon or 4efte???? want lime green on black if you can do it or maybe i should have it say BRUM! Jason

  4. Dan, i would love to use anime babes, but i can't, i work for a kids science centre and i won't be able to use it for work so need to keep it clean ;) Thanks to miib14, Glanza_cl and starbuck. I really do quite like the Blanka versions, hmmmm i guess it will go with the green/black theme as well Thanks everyone, keep them coming, anyone else have any idea's, apart from manga babes ;) Jason
  5. Hi guys, Well as im really cracking on with the buggy at the moment i have been thinking about some designs for the buggy. Im thinking about going for a 'Anime/Manga' style graphic setup and have something different down the side. I need to include my main sponsor 'JDModified' but i can pretty much do what i want as long as i have their name down the side. Here are a few pics of the side of the Demon, is there anyone that has any idea's or want to have a bash at doing a photoshop with it? Graphics/logo's can go down the side, i was even thinking about doing them over the rear scoop or even make it look like something is coming from the side scoop? There are a few idea's i have looked at.......... Astro boy, im half bionic so i think this would go well ................ Dragonball z, kid Goku............. or street fighter, mainly blanka........... What do people think????Or if anyone has any other idea's???? I don't want anything with half naked Anime girls as i want to keep it clean. If anyone gets time please feel free to have a play with photoshop, anything is a help Jason
  6. Thanks Iddy, doing my best to really knuckle down now. *** Another Update *** Well, Sarah was at work again today so i got up nice and early and went into work with her so i could carry on with the front nosecone. Made the template and cut the vent profiles and started adding them onto the buggy........ Until i reached the other side. As you can see the vent is going to be huge. Could have made it smaller but it works out well with the chassis this way, will put some mesh in the front and at the top of the vent to please the IVA guys. Then continued with building up the sides, still not sure if this will look right when done but hopefully find out when i add the foam inbetween the profiles. I have roughly added the side panels and side scoop as well so i can get a better idea of what it will look like....... Im thinking about bringing the nosecone along the sides slightly, where the cardboard panel is on the side so that it is all one piece front.... Thats it for the moment, may get a few more little bits done this week but im back to actually doing WORK tomorrow so progress will be back to the steady pace before christmas. Hopefully the foam sheets will arrive this week so i can add them when the profiles are all added. Going to start looking into doing some graphics for the sides, still unsure of what to do but have a few idea's Jason
  7. ^^^ Man speaks sense! Mine has gone up also, im nearly 28 with 9 years NCD and mine has still gone up, phoned them up and they said that basically ALL insurance will be going up in price! Mine has only gone up about £60 but still up If you get no increase or just a small increase then i think your doing well Jason
  8. Thanks for all the Great comments guys and gals Makes me so motivated to really crack on with the progress. @ PJN, im determined to see this project through and to be honest i can't see myself ever selling this. Hopefully still be driving around in it when im 80 Im not one to spend a load of money on a project and then sell it when its complete/almost there! @ tersplat, really sorry you had to spend so long reading this . I have had a couple of people wonder in and read the thread who didn't know about it and all seem to happily spend several hours reading all the posts! Im currently at work doing more so expect another update tonight. whoop whoop! Plus i need the help of UKSC do work out the anime graphics im going to run down the side! Will get some pictures up tonight and people can have a go at some designs/photoshops if they are really bored Right, back to it....... Jason
  9. I think as long as it is accessable from drivers seat and is labelled up you will be fine! But don't quote me on that
  10. Page 15........... This Turbo......... my mate...... Tiny intake...... next to my size 10........ WIN!!!!!!!
  11. It would never come on boost Would need 20k worth of revs before it did! My mates making it into a jet engine
  12. Looks like i may soon have a reason to renew my gold membership
  13. What the HUGE turbo? No thats a joke, its off of a TRAIN
  14. Yes thats what im doing, then there is a large scoop at the bottom rear that scoops air to engine/filter etc. I may not bother with carbon as its having Manga style graphics done right down the side
  15. Really glad i started a big job also, really changes the look of it I think im going to use carbon fibre for the side panels but no real sculpted side panels, don't think it really needs anything???
  16. Thanks guys, its amazing how a few extra bits can really change the look More to come on monday with any luck
  17. ** Little update ** Well yesterday on my lunch break i got a couple more parts added, not much but it really changed the look of it by just adding a few more little parts. Can actually visualise it a bit better now, still looks a little weird from a few angles but i think its on its way. Hopefully i will be back in the workshop bank holiday monday to start cracking on with it further............ Comments always welcome Jason
  18. Crap! So i only have a week to do enough work for another update I got a little more done on my lunch break, just added a few more pieces to the nosecone template but its made such a HUGE difference. Looks epic! If i do say so........... Pics coming next week with the next update. Jason
  19. Happy new year evryone! Well another year of the build complete and still no closer to being on the road Maybe 2011 will see me get closer?!?!?! Wish i was out drinking but i won't be, first new years eve where i can't drink, will get used to it in the end. My mates random drunk phone calls don't help though Jason
  20. Thanks for comments guys Looks like its getting there but trust me its a LONG way off yet. Im starting to wonder if i will actually get it done next year now Still loads to do, but im working my ass off to get it built asap and i hope that it shows! @ Luke, yep ECU was buggered, got new one here now though so all good Jason
  21. Thanks dude, will defo be in scotland at some point, meant to be visiting friends in scotland in it when its done
  22. LOL That is my new favourite quote!!!!! Im not in scotland im afraid, close though, Southampton well, actually i don't think that could be further away could it Will be keeping it though and definately using it! and abusing it! May bring it to scotland if your lucky! Jason
  23. Thanks dude! Ignore the camber! Suspension is all over the place! I have adjustable everything, and none of it is setup so its all over the place. I just got the height at the correct setup all round so that i could get on with the nosecone
  24. *** Update Time *** Well about time i added an update i guess, got to keep Steve off my back Chrsitmas over and done with so i was straight back to work, Well monday and tuesday i had off work but as the girlfriend was working i decided to go into wotk and crack on with the build. As i got the clutch and brake pedals all sorted i thought i would finish off the set and get the 'Go pedal' done and fitted. Started off with getting it roughly tacked together and fitted....... Then created a bracket to hold the cable in place....... After a bit of head scratching and trying to work out where to place the stop i simply just added a piece to the bracket. Has a rubber buffer piece on the end so it won't damage the mechanism. The whole setup will be housed in the side panels so will be out of sight and should help protect it. stop added....... Here is the mechanism on its own, will be covered either side eventually when i get round to it......... Thottle cable is all cut to length and fitted in place, im not 100% happy with how it fits to the bracket but i will reweld the bracket at a later date when James can do some more alloy welding for me. Picture doesn't really show it but the cable doesn't point at the thottle body 100% true. A Random shot of it in the workshop, love the stance so much ........ Well that was one more thing crossed off the list, then for the next, fitting the fuel cell in place. Fuel cell was designed to fit in the back compartment i had fabricated up but i think i measured it ever so slightly out so i have had to grind a piece off the chassis and move it slightly. The piece was where the original rear chassis bolted to but i have cut it off and added a strengthening piece further forward so now the fuel cell has a bit of room so i can create a firewall. Bottom rail added.......... then with both pieces added, plate on the floor is the piece i removed as it was rubbing against the tank.... then with the fuel cell bolted roughly in place, will get round to making a firewall when i make all the other panels... I was starting to get a bit fed up with working on the buggy recently, even though i seem to be really cracking on it just seems never ending and the list of jobs to do seems to just be growing in size! So i thought i would pick one of the big jobs off the list and just concentrate on that, rather than working on bits here and there. So looking down the list i chose a job and set to work. *** Building a nosecone from scratch *** Now where do i start, have the rough idea in my head of what to do and know what needs to be done! Design is already roughed out thanks to my bro and his earlier sketch's. So with this image in my head i set off........ Started by removing the radiator and creating a dumby one from thick ply wood. This is so that i don't get resin/fibreglass all over the thing and gives a good base for me to mount the other templates from.... Then quickly knocked up a few pieces to start me off.......... After bolting these together i realised that the bottom piece was the wrong shape and needed to be more rounded across the front if i was going to stick to the sketch my bro did and not have a flat edge to it at the front. So then soon after made version mk2, this has the correct shaped bottom piece but the side panels where not correct......... Bottom piece looks the correct width and should work well, i just needed to alter the side pieces slightly....... I decided to start building up the side profiles anyway and then alter the side parts later to suit..... I have seen this process used several times by car builders/designers where they build up profiles from ply then add foam in between to bulk it out, then sand between the profiles and skim the whole lot to create a good solid shape to then create a fibreglass mould from and finally build a fibreglass nosecone. Long winded i know but should mean that i will have a proper mould so if i need a replacement nosecone i can easily make another. Anyway, changed the radiator side templates and continued making templates and stacking them up, the white rod shows the form the nosecone should follow......... What do people think? this view looks good as you can see the profile side on against the wheel, i think it will be awsome but open to comments. Then added more......... This side view is even better as you can actually visualise the large vent from the radiator.......... and one last one........ Thought i should update now as anymore pictures and i think you would all fall asleep. Hopefully tomorrow during my lunch break and monday i should get even more done, watch this space Jason
