*** Update time *** Well i got up to JDModified again and got straight on with it James managed to get the old shock mounts removed from the front of the buggy during the week which means that things went alot easier today. The goal of the day today was to at least get the front done and the buggy back to a rolling chassis as it has been chocked at the front for the last week or so. Started by test fitting the coilovers to see if they would actually fit and they looked like a good fit. I decided to ditch the brackets i had for the front as it would have been a bit more work and wouldn't have worked out as good as it could. I decided to use some small bits of steel angle that meant the coilovers would sit perfectly in line with the upper mounts. As the upper mounts are slightly different and one leans forward and one leans back it made sense for both the struts to have their own bracket. Got them tacked in place and they looked like this. As you can see they don't line up with one another but they line up perfectly with the upper mounts and are central to the car so are in the correct place. Then finished off the welding and finally after lots of faffing about now have the coilovers on the car!!!! Yay, and i think they look great. Will look good when the buggy is sprayed green as the red springs will look pretty cool. Looks loads better i think and although i doubt it will make much difference with the front end being as light as it is anyway but made sense to do things correctly first time round. If it helps with the handling one little bit then its been worth it in my opinion. Also in the picture above you will see the 2nd version of the rear light clusters that will now include the reverse lights in them. The rear fog will still be kept seperate and will be placed under the number plate on its own. I also started to look very carefully at the seating position and the steering wheel position which to be honest is cack! Got the drivers side floor removed as we are going to weld in a proper frmae for the seats as we both feel that just bolting them to the chequer plate floor just isn't good enough. Seats will be fixed in a position that is comfortable for me, which is pretty much right the way back anyway I cleaned up the rear roll bar a bit also as the adjustable spoiler will shortly be welded in place That was it for the day, doesn't look like much but alot of things have been sorted and i have taken a few bits away that will be getting worked on over the next few weeks and then im back on with it. I also have a couple of days holiday left and will be taking these at the beggining of december to spend thursday/friday/saturday getting on with the buggy. Plan is to get the seating in its correct place and the pedals chopped and modified. Also planning on cutting off the steering wheel mounts and dropping them down and moving them over to line up with the driver. They just don't seem to be in the correct position and im not happy with them so it needs to be addressed. Thats it for now folks, comments always welcome. Thanks for looking, sorry about the essay! Jason

Hi Luke, Glad you got them fitted ok mate and they look fantastic if i do say so myself Jason

Even better on the old mini/vw engines with mechanical fuel pumps. I never got to try it on my mini before i stripped it but you can drive along and turn it off. The fuel keeps getting pumped into the system and then when you turn the key and start it up again there is a MASSIVE bang and a huge flame out the back. One of my mates had a VW camper and he had a woman in a mx5 right up his arse up a hill. My other mate was in the back and was watching out the back when he made it backfire. He saya that the woman bricked it and almost crashed her car. She backed off after that.

And for that reason i am installing a camera system into the buggy Going to have a passengers face camera, rear facing cam, front facing cam and 1/4 view. All will be switchable in the car and will also record straight onto hard drive that can be removed from the car. Got it all worked out and even have most of the parts already

All these kill stories make me want mine on the road even more

In my Opinion you don't want to use too many colours, otherwise it will look like a clown has thrown up over your engine bay If your doing the cam cover red then best to keep the main colour to red and use colours that complement it. eg black/silver/stainless/chrome etc i wouldn't go for red/blu/green bits etc. The bodywork on mine is going to be sprayed lime green and then im going for polished and purple parts for the engine bay. I don't know if the colour combo will work but its best to only stick to a few colours and not go too mad! Jason

Im aiming for 500kg and 250bhp just so its a nice even 500 bhp/ton but i think i will never make it to be honest, i think 220bhp should do me just fine!!!!!!
-
LOL we will see about that, its technically a kitcar but we will see what he says. I will be giving people passenger rides if it does get in, although not at 3am in the morning. And put it this way, you won't be taking it out at 3am as it will be in my tent..........and yes it fits in the lobby part of our tent
-
Dates already Spot on!!!! I have emailed John Fuggles to see if the 'Demon' will be allowed in, fingers crossed
-
Will roughly be 550kg although im looking to get that down bellow 500kg after its road legal and roughly 220bhp is what im aiming for Might just be because im soooooo keen to get it done that it feels like its going slow. You guys will know if its going slow/fast!
-
Really??? To me it seems like its going REALLY slow!
-
LOL Now that would be legendary!!!!

I have an Xbox and its not bad, i have never really been into PS3's. My bro has one and its not bad to be honest, i feel there are more games on the xbox and i have one becasue most of my mates have on as well so sought of had to follow suit i guess. One thing i do hate about the xbox is that its made by Bill Gates and micrososft never test anything properly. They release it onto the market and let the general public to test it until it needs an update and then they keep releasing new updates all the time! Plus my xbox has now got the dreaded ring of death and is getting sent off to be repaired. Bloody microsoft!!!!!

If you look at the BHP/Ton table on the bottom left of the menu bar you will see that the cupra is about 136 bhp/ton but the glanza V is 146 bhp/ton

Thanks Guys i think in line with the number plate is the answer. Have had only one person say above the bar! Im dying to get this built now, won't have much money over christmas so i am just going to have to try and concentrate on freelance work and selling dial kits so i can get a little more money for the new year when im back on this fully. Every morning on my way to work now there is a guy in a Ford Focus RS that pisses me off every day, drives like a nutter and is always up my arse until i move out of the way and then he continues to piss me off. Keep thinking to myself 'just you wait!!!!!!' he may be pissing me off but he is also making me crack on with this as much as possible so not all bad. Im going to destroy him when this is on the road
-
Good man! I agree totally

*** Mini update **** Girlfriend gave me a few hours away from her so i got to go and check a few little bits on the buggy before i was back in my cage They have confirmed that they will get the front end cleaned up this week and the brackets removed so when im up there next saturday i can get the coilovers onto the front and the new brackets welded on ;) While i was up there i also roughly tapped the light template sinto place to see what they will look like on the buggy. I have two options really, either the lights sit above the rear bar or bellow the rear bar. To me they look better sat below (second set of pics) but let me know what you guys think. I still have to sort out placement for the rear fog and reverse ligts which i think will sit below the number plate (still fine for IVA). lights above bar....... lights bellow bar...... I will be up there working on the buggy next saturday and if i get time i will get it outside and get some proper decent pics of it any comments welcome people?!?!? Jason

Or you could go the route i went and bought a crash damaged GT. Engine ran a treat but had a front end crash that had damaged the chassis, radiator was bent but not leaking and there is a fine crack in the manifold. Thats it for engine damage. Bought the car for £600, sold parts off of the car to the value of £450. Leaving me with engine, gearbox, V5, driveshafts, Manifolds, Turbo, Loom, Dump valve and everything needed for my project for the bargain price of £150!!!! Whoop whoop! Obviously it all depends if you have the room and time to do this though, and whats availiable??? Jason
