  1. *** little update *** As i posted before i was going to get up to JDModified and do some work on the buggy today but unfortunately it was not possible as James wasn't about for the day so couldn't get to the buggy :harhar: Instead i went to work and cracked on with a few little bits: The metal for the adjustable spoiler arrived on Friday so i spent a few hours today getting the bits welded up and it looks like a keeper. The spoiler brackets get welded to the top roll bar piece on the back and should be more than enough to support the rear spoiler piece. They are adjustable as well so the angle can be changed to fine tune the downforce supplied to the back. I will be making something similar for the front and will also have a rear lower diffuser added later. Here's the pics. spoiler pieces. inserts welded in and ground off. pretty much there, still needs a little finishing but this will be done before it goes to paint with the rest of the car. Here's a little mock up of what it will look like, will be using a tinted green acrylic so you can see through the spoiler and gives an idea of the level of adustment available. Not going to order the acrlic just yet as don't want it getting damaged before i need it. Im also considering using the same tinted green acrylic for the side of the Demon so you can almost see through the car. Then having the sponsor logo's/decals etched into the panels so they are 'ghosted'. Have also found a 40lt fuel cell that will be ordered up next month. It doesn't come with a locking fuel cap as they expect you to fit it into a car where its secure but i will need to adapt a locking fuel cap onto it. I did buy a locking fuel cap off of a Honda motorbike and it may be able to be adapted to fit the fuel cell. It is even hinged so it doen't come away from the car (as per IVA regs ). Keys even stay in the cap until its locked back in position, which is the other requirment if its not tethered. I have also ordered the other 2 Deep dish Ultralite wheels that are required for the rear of the buggy and they should be here next week with any luck and will be on in 2 weeks time. I won't be able to get to the buggy for 2 weeks now as im going to look around Williams F1 test facility next weekend not turning that down!!!!! I have however now 'booked' the buggy in to have the chassis finished off, seat fixings made and the final rear roll cage parts added. This should be done within the next 2 weeks and then comes the coilover work. As the Demon was never officially booked into the diary then it was just left there as they have alot of other full paying jobs but its booked in so they WILL be working on it!!!!!! As always people comments are greatly recieved and help me to work out parts that need attention so any comments/questions/concerns please ask away. Jason
  2. Congratulations, now get some pictures up
  3. Also after you have got rid of everything that is not essential then its best to start replacing the stuff that is essential with light weight versions to help. eg get rid of all the seats but replace drivers seat with light weight bucket seat, and a passengers seat if you really need it. My thing is stupidly light but after i have built it im going to begin trying to get the weight down as much as possible. And i mean looking at everything on the car......not that there is much on it to begin with. Obviously i will keep stuff like gauges, covers etc but if it doesn't help with egtting me round a track quicker or helping improve the car in some way its coming off. I believe the weight should be around the 550kg mark but im hoping to get it down to alot less than 500kg :harhar: and then some.............
  4. /\/\ As Sparky said :harhar: You haven't had your fun with that TD12 yet
  5. I can't really comment about removing the seats but know about weight saving If your getting rid of the rear seats then might be worth taking out some more as well. Taking seats out is the first step. Will look sort of stripped then, so might as well ditch rear seat belts and plastics. Then comes everything else that isn't essential. If the car works with out it rip it out! :harhar:
  6. Im usually working on it just on my own but this time when i mean they are busy i mean they are busy in another part of the country :harhar:
  7. Or into another similar looking piece os shit chav car :harhar:
  8. Looks like i may not be working on it at the weekend now :harhar: Not Happy!!!!! Just got off the phone with James at JDModified and they might be busy with other things this weekend so i may not be able to get to the buggy to even work on it! they are going to call later to confirm but it doesn't look good. Just when i was all motivated and really wanted to crack on with it Obviously not there fault as i know how busy they get and they also need time for other things! They said that im fine working on it next weekend but I am busy as i have a VIP pass to williams F1 test centre and im not turning that down!!!!! I got so upset that i had to chear myself up with some retail therapy so i bought another 2 deep dish Ultralite wheels Already have 2 michelin race slicks in my boot waiting to wrap themselves round the wheels when they arrive. All is not a total loss though, i have small bits i can work on over the weekend so will just have to crack on with these i guess. Its just a pain when i don't actually have the buggy here with me. I have just picked up the parts to make up the adjustable rear wing though on the plus side so may try some mock ups with this over the weekend! Jason
  9. AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!! My eyes, they burn with evil :harhar:
  10. LOL I guess that in the overall scheme of things if my heart valve is getting replaced with a carbon fibre one then its making the buggy several milli grams lighter Now what other body parts can i replace with carbon :harhar: On another note i am fully motivated to get back on with this now!!!! Im actually thinking about nothing else but building the kit car and getting the thing on the road! The last couple of nights i have been lying in bed planning whats going to get done this weekend and working out the plan of attack. I think about it so much that when i do eventually fall asleep i end up dreaming of working on the buggy and driving it. That just makes me want to finish it even more then. The adjustable brackets for the rear wing should be made before the weekend with any luck and i should be able to start mocking up the template for the wing itself. I have been looking at materials again and i have found the perfect material for the rear wing. Its lime green tinted acrylic and looks pretty strange. Im also toying with the idea of using it for the side but im unsure??? I think it will look really good but i don't know how it will look with the graphics done over the top??? So i may just stick to solid green for the sides, although i really like the idea of being able to see right through the car. Will make it look lighter Jason
  11. As in what parts? More than likely be some/few similar parts, whats the point in toyota designing all new parts for every car when they have already deisgned them and they work fine? but i could be wrong? LOL
  12. Not really my cup of tea to be honest but thats what modding cars is all about! Some of the stuff im doing probably makes people think 'what the fuck' At the end of the day as long as your happy with it! I have respect for you though, not many people would do something like this and do something completely different and not the norm. Although its not too my taste i can fully appreciate the amount of work that has gone into this! The dash alone looks like ALOT of work has gone into it, including that lexus is200 cluster molded into the middle, i recognise it The amount of time taken to wire that thing in on its own must have been immense!!!! Did you get the Odometer to work as the starlet one is mechanical i believe where as the lexus one i know is digital props! Jason
  13. Good idea Chanelle, and your car looks sweeeeeeeet. I love the graphics not really a starlet but, mine when i bought it........ and how it stands now, not much of a difference i guess.............
  14. Thats pretty good results for that setup! Looks like i may have found the Demon's new turbo
  15. **** Mini Update ***** Well after my hospital check up on wednesday i got back to work and these arrived 10 minutes later. These are the coilovers for the front of the buggy, wasn't going to buy them just yet but when people are selling them slightly cheaper than what it would cost me then i can't resist and gave in to temptation. The springs going on these are the ones already on the buggy which will fit on these a treat. The coilover kit for the rear will be on order very soon. Also the steel that i need laser cutting for the rear adjustable spoiler design is currently being made up and should have this with me very soon. Hopefully next weekend i will get a full day working on the buggy and actually get something done, its been far too long now with no progress so im keen to crack on with it. On another side note, my hospital check up was not good news! I was born with a dodgy aortic valve on my heart and they have been keeping an eye on it and the check up showed that it has got considerably worse since last time. I have been told that it needs to be replaced with a carbon fibre valve soon! So after christmas i will be going in for surgery. This means im going to be off work for 3 months and not allowed to do proper work for an additional 6-8 weeks. Meaning that work i can do myself will stop on the buggy. However it shouldn't stop completely as because im not able to work or do anything then im not spending money on getting to work/lunch/going out etc. Meaning i can put some more money towards getting other parts made/ on order. Hopefully won't effect the build too much, although my health comes first of course ;D Jason
  16. Get ready for this......... Me: Lexus IS200 160bhp Me: Demon 135bhp (at the moment ) Bro: Clio Diesel 80 bhp Bro: MR2 Turbo 600 bhp Dad: VW Sharon 115 bhp Mum: Lexus IS250: 208 bhp Total 1298 Jason
  17. Do they actually do a starlet/glanza model???? If you guys are trying to get a company to produce a 'new' kit then i really don't think it will happen as there will be a huge price involved to create moulds for the kits. Im not trying to upset people but i doubt you will get a cheap kit made. If you guys do get a kit made up then you will be really lucky and you almost want to see if it can be packaged up as a UKSC model kit Dam it, You have me wanting a kit of the 'Demon' now Don't think i am going to find someone that will make me one cheaply, hang on wait a minute, im a modelmaker Think i might need to get some brass tube and start soldering up a scale kit.......................

    Weekend

wear nothing then I have no cash so my weekend is spent surfing the net looking for cheap parts for the Demon. Why do fuel cells cost so bloody much
  19. Should fit in theory, though don't quote me on that. The MK1 MR2 and the starlet/glanza have the same exedy clutch kit. If you check the exedy website the clutch kits all have the same part number. That kit says its for the 1.6 MK1 MR2, which should be the same. Jason
  20. Took the words out of my mouth! Not all about power! Im planning on also doing hill climb's and track events hopefully next year when mine is up and running. I know its completely different but im going for 200bhp and then spend more money getting the balance, weight and handling of the car set up better. You will probably find it cheaper and easier to look at weight reduction and you will have a more responsive car than going for all out power. Plus most hill climb tracks are more bends than flat out straights. Im planning on a CT9 hybrid or possibly the TD12 when the results are posted Jason
  21. I will be watching this topic closely Think i will be going TD12 on mine
  22. Well for the sake of my ass i better keep it then I don't know why i even mentioned it to be honest. I did post up that it crossed my mind and then soon after changed it back. Anyway the front coilovers should arrive today so that should motivate me a bit
  23. Feel the love ;)
  24. Hahaha I guess you want me to keep it then ;) Thanks for the comments mate but i don't think its the most anticipated car on here Your keen i will give you that It will be good when its done and im sure im going to love it to bits. Its just a long old road and the fact it has slowed down is getting to me a bit. I did mention to James that i was thinking of selling it and he was shocked. He said he might have to take me outside and smack me up a bit until i change my mind. It might make him do more work on the thing though However, i really hate the thought of spending all this money and time on it only to sell it and have someone else enjoy my idea and a kit that i have pretty much made from scratch. Its the only one in existance like this and i haven't seen anything similar, ever! Also i know that i will always be thinking, 'dam i should have kept that kit, it was slick, why did i ever sell it'. So for that reason its staying. Jason
  25. Thanks Mate, i really need to get back on with it. There has not been anything done to it now for 2 months + and its starting to get to me now. I have even been thinking about selling it, its got that bad Although luckily i have gone off that idea now. Once work starts up again i will be working on it flat out again and im sure i will be more excited but the slow period has really got me down and have started loosing interest. I think its the fact that its not next to my desk and i only see the thing every 2-3 weeks thats getting to me. Once the engine is finally in and its been sprayed then its a relatively smooth job to the IVA stage. Jason
