  1. Its not cheap! Put it this way, the bike model cost me £1000 in materials and 6 months full time of my life. 6 months work at a reasonable rate and your looking at about £10,000+ for something similar I almost sold this model to Orange County Choppers and was in talks about the price ($1000) but they never reached an agreement. Jason
  2. OK, the first set have been emailed off and will be in production within the coming week. Im hoping to have them tested for fitment (not expecting any problems) and hopefully fitted to a speedo cluster by the weekend and when i have them then pictures will go up and i can start a group buy for those interested in them. Will also sort out some fitting instructions with a step by step guide but to be honest they will be very easy to fit and most people will be able to manage it without any problems. I will be running a group buy for JAE where i will fit them for people free of charge. Beca
  3. Thanks mate, Oh forgot to add, i did get a first
  4. The chain and sprockets are made using acid etched stainless steel, same process im using to make the stainless dials im working on. Its basically two etched pieces that are made to look like a chain and then sandwhiched together with lots of tiny pegs to give the effect of a chain. I started making the links individually but after making 2 links in 3 hours i decided against it! LOL
  5. Hi All, Well after seeing some people post up on here about Uni work and final majors etc etc i thought it was about time to show people what i did at uni. I studied Modelmaking at Bournemouth arts institute and although this sounds like a easy course its NOT! They teach you everything you would need to know to make most things from scratch and at extremely high tolerances. Not precision but close. I am qualified using lathe's, Mills, CNC, laser cutters, rapid prototyping, spraying, welding, brazzing, fibreglassing, mould making etc etc Its been over two years since i graduated but i loved
  6. Thanks mate, i really need the whole speedo so i can fit them straight to that. The dials i have are mucked up because i have removed the needles and obviously they won't go back on in the same place. Probably no point sending me the glanza ones, although i can create an exact copy i will need the speedo to check fitment. I think the easiest thing for me to do is get the tester made up and roughly fit it to the cluster i have, then im sure there will be more of a uptake Looking at the GT dials it looks like the bulbs can be changed pretty easily so should be able to change the colour wit
  7. They light up exactly the same as standard, they have cut outs that allow the standard dials to shine through, they basically fit over the existing standard dials but obviuosly look loads better. They are made to 0.01mm precision so should line up perfectly. People will not be dissapointed i asure you, anyone have a spare speedo cluster that would like to have the first set of rising sun's???? Jason
  8. This project is amazing! Nice to see some people going away from the norm and doing something insane! Puts mine to shame
  9. Is there anyone close to Southampton that would like to have some dials fitted to their EP82, or they can send me the speedo and i will fit them and send them back. Im just about to get the first set of stainless steel rising sun dials get made up and they are going to look great!!!!! The rising sun starts on the bottom of the rev counter and spreads over all the dials and perfectly lines up. Also once the first set has been tested i will be running a group buy for JAE, and i will fit them for you guys free of charge! What designs would people like to see???? i have done 1 with the toyota l
  10. All in good time Its either that or maybe a 200sx engined frog eyed sprite, or maybe a mr2 engined toyota IQ (but i think someone will do this before me). Won't be for a long time yet as im going to enjoy the next few years with 'deathwish' and then if im not dead start the next one.
  11. they look sweet! Been thinking about the next project for some time now! i know i haven't even finished off this project yet but im always thinking about the next thing! Been thinking about a Hayabusa Turbo powered smart car, now looking at these makes me want to do it even more. Could make it look exactly like one of these...........hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
  12. Got a trailor, nothing to tow it with though!!!! My lex is never getting a tow bar put on it as it will spoil the look and the van is being used that weekend so no other option guys. Im a little upset but in a way its probably the best thing to do, i don't want it unveiled to the world untill its done to be honest. I know im always on here posting up about it but i don't really want any pictures appering elsewhere just yet
  13. Thanks mate, its getting there but alot slower than i wanted. Unfortunately its not going to be at JAE this year TGT have not had confirmation about their trade stand so they won't be taking the buggy along! I have no other way of getting the thing there so will be leaving it this year now. Good news is that next year's JAE im going to drive the thing there and get the girlfriend to drive my lexus up as well. Will be fully road legal by then and will be running close to 200 BHP so people will be able to feel the full insane madness of the thing, and i can take people out on the road in it
  14. Welcome to the club! Jason
  15. needs to be head on as well if possible so i can trace it in autocad
  16. Hi everyone, Just a quick one really. Im working on a few idea's for the stainless steel dials and i just wondered if anyone has any large pictures of the GT badge on the front grill. I have had a little look on the net but can't find anything good! thanks if you can help, Jason
  17. LOL I keep thinking the same thing, when you first look at it you think that but when you realise that its at the rear of the car and so the engine is sort of the other way round. if that makes sense??? Its getting there but slowly, this weather has been so good that i have been dying to get this thing built and drive it about but its now looking like next year till its done. Jason
  18. *** Another Update *** Well the guys are back from their holiday so i went up there today to have a little look at the progress. Its all looking good and they have started offering up the engine and looking at fixing the engine mounts in place. Had a little talk about a few things and got a few more things sorted out. Including the exhaust, keeping the carbon bike can for the moment and lookig at routing it over the engine rather than under. This means that it will be increadibly short, pipework will only be about 300mm long with only one bend and then the rear can Have a look at the pictur
  19. You will shortly have Personal Message mate
  20. Not sure of price yet, all depends on what i get quoted from the etching company. Probably looking at £50-60 for a set, this may include some other parts as well eg a/c piece, clock cover etc. I will also fit them for free if im availble at a meet (JAE, japfest etc or if people are local to me) I will update with a firm price when i have the first set made. They will also include MPH labeling etched into them or kmh if people wish.
  21. If you do find a EP91 cluster and can supply it i will in return give you a free set of dials, of your chosen design.
  22. I was told that you can already get a stainless set for the EP91? I can make them for any car, i just need a speedo cluster that i can take the template from. It will get destroyed though as i need to remove the dial faces and scan them in. I forgot to add also......... THESE DIALS ARE FITTED WITHOUT REMOVING THE NEEDLES!!!!!! SO NO RE-CALIBRATION IS NEEDED! Jason
  23. Hi All, As some of you know i have been working on a Stainless Steel Dial conversion for the EP82. Well there almost finished and ready to have the first set put into production. Only problem now is that the guy who was going to test fit them has crashed his EP and is probably going to break it. This means i now need a new candidate to test fit a set of them. I will fit the dials for you as i have done it for several other cars and know what im doing. You will only pay for the dials themselves, and i will supply and fit them at no extra cost. Also as its the first set i will make them a lim
  24. Looks nice mate Although there is something about the front that doesn't look right??? Don't know what it is, maybe the lower lip or the mesh??? the rear and sides look spot on though oh and the wheels are slick
  25. Thats the funny thing, when i phoned up and he asked about the car he didn't ask where the engine came from! He only asked what size it was! I said its a 1.3 and i then asked do you need to know what car its come from? He then said no it doesn't matter what car it comes from ;) I also asked him about mods, to which he said you don't really need to declare mods as its not like a normal car. As its a kit car they expect it to be modified in some way so i can do what i want with the engine without no change in insurance!!!! If i had properly researched this in the past i would have been build
