  1. You can now get pre-icer. I've not tried it so can't comment on it working or not. Pre-Icer Gavin
  2. yeah it's brand new. I looked on the bottle and I could not see the info, i'm blind. lol Thanks Lads Gavin
  3. Does anyone know what the minimum temperature Toyota premixed red coolant will protect an engine to? Thanks Gavin
  4. So sorry i'm reading this, this car was MINT. Glad your ok! They say the best way to recover after a fall is to get right back on/up. Re-shell FTW!! Only the shell and/or wheels/axel has had it! I asked for parts BUT I would rather see this car reborn! Re-shell FTW Gavin
  5. I've heard that some Innovate widebands can be a little problematic. Apparently some on them keep losing calibration and to recalibrate them requires the sensor to be removed from the exhaust because it needs totally clean air or "free air", I believe. That could get very tiresome after a while. The problems that some people have discovered may be related to the way it's been installed, I don't know. The Aem ones come pre calibrated from the factory using a resistor built into the sensors plug, iirc. If/when you change the sensor it comes with the right value for that sensor. Gavin
  6. Not a problem mate. I like sharing my knowledge thats what this club is all about.
  7. Diy is the way to go with short shifters. When I disassembled mine to mod it I measured between the centres of the pivots/balls on both the centre sitck and side leaver and noticed they were exactly the same length. I did some research and found other toyota cars where the modders had lengthened both parts to the same length to not only give a shorter throw but to make the gears a little closer together. To move the ball 10mm on the shaft use the EP91 guide but to make the side lever 10mm longer I recommend cutting out a 5mm piece and welding a 15mm piece in its place. The plastic housing n
  8. its just a setting mate you can change it by clicking on "options" (top right of screen on thread pages) and then under display modes clicking "standard". Gavin
  9. I would say thats the case here then. How long did you leave it? The photo is deceptive because the magnet wants to make pretty patterns out of the metal power/filings no matter how fine they are. Kinda like this: Thats why you always want to get it between your fingers and feel it. lol Everyone has them kinda moments. Being blonde dont help you can imagine the stick I get when I have a momentary lapse of concentration. Blonde this, Blonde that. lol Gavin
  10. What is stuck to the magnetic sump plug is not from porting a head as the heads are made from aluminium and aluminium in not magnetic for a start. If it was a kinda paste its likely to be normal engine wear although there does seem to be loats of the stuff for it to be that. If it was kinda coarse filings its likely it could be a sign of trouble coming your way. Edit: When I say paste I mean if you smeer it between your fingers you cant feel anything coarse at all its just really thick smooth oil with a really really fine metal powder in it. Gavin
  11. Before it totally went to the dogs you could still get onto the front page and it did say they were updating parts of the site or something. Gavin
  12. Dont know if its related to the images not showing but im getting a virus warning/site unsafe message when I click the direct link but the photo does/did show. Gavin
  13. Yeah but to make the Gi engine work we had to use the old small throttle body (the one in photo) because of the different sensors. The Gi one got lost somewhere. After about 4 years I started to think about a bigger one again and I have managed to get a Carina E throttle body (50mm with an 8mm butterfly shaft instead of 10mm and made by a german company for Toyota) and I am machining adaptors for the sensors. Anyway that looks the same size as the "big" one. Gavin
  14. To me that "small" throttle body looks smaller than a standard n/a starlet one. My old throttle body. As far as I know its a standard Starlet n/a 4E-FE one Did the corolla get an even smaller throttle body (than the n/a Starlet) as standard? Because it sure looks like it. Gavin
  15. This is properly a repost but I know there will be people that have not seen this: Gavin
  16. Taken from TGTT: Click Youtube: Click Gavin
  17. Yeah even going slow they work real quick. lol Gavin
  18. You need a Toffee Wheel and some kind of drill to use it in. If you go slow they do not damage paint. They are a kind of rubber and wear down quick to avoid overheating the paint, that makes them very messy but by far the easiest way to remove trim glue, foam tape, pinstripes and even decals. It does say not to use on lacquer but ive never had a problem. Gavin
  19. Because of the difference in pressure across the butterfly and the velocity of air flow even warm air can cause freezing and lock the butterfly in whatever posision it is in. (In theory but is it worth the risk?) Coolant runs through the throttle body to stop this so I consider it a safety device. I believe the idle air control valve is controlled as part of the auto choke at idle so uses coolent temp. Gavin
  20. Hot coolant runs through the throttle body to stop it icing up in cold weather and is a safety device. The Idle air control valve is electronically controled from the coolant temp sensor via the ECU. Not directly from the temp of the coolant. It does soak heat into the manifold tho but the way to keep the safety device and loose the heat soak is to use an insulator. To anyone thinking of doing this.... This is the redneck way of doing it! I am working on a how-to about modding a Carina E 50mm throttle body to fit the 4E-FE while retaining the idle air control and the power steering idle up
  21. Yeah I might do but would feel wrong without my starlet! lol Gavin
  22. Im in an n/a mate! a Blurple one. You the black GT down Limehurst Avenue? Gavin
  23. I know, dont worry you didnt I just thought id tell people because then they can choose! Sorry for making it sound like I was pissed off!! Plus if my car was on the road at the min I would so be at the rr day and on the rollers but shit happens! Gavin
  24. Dont want people thinking Loughborough is crap lol so ill correct this. Your right we have a KFC (with drive through) also 2 McDonalds (1 with drive through), 2 Pizza Huts, A dominos pizza, 2 Sub Ways and god knows how many bakers, chippys and independent fast food places. You wont go hungry in Loughborough!! Gavin
  25. Does everyones air bag light come on when the ignition is switched on for about 6 seconds or something and then go out? Ever since ive had my car mine has not lit up ever but I read in the starlet user manual the other day it should. Dont know what it not coming on is trying to tell me? Edit: I changed all the bulbs when I put the sr clocks in! Gavin
