If i had to replace a smokin ct9 then i would defo prefer the ct9b from years of experiance,bare in mind if the housing has a crack then the housing is uninterchangeable between the two with out mod.

Sounds like out of the two cables the shifter cable is playin up,diconnect the ends and see if it's free.
