Lol this reminds me, a mate of mine who knows pretty much fuck all about cars(thinks his Mini Cooper is a turbo, and its not an s) went to get some tyres and was told the guy would sort him Out, he came back with a pair of wanli or similar telling me how the car corners immensely compared to the worn out dunlops that were on it, I just kept quiet and face palmed lol.
  7. As I say it seems to open and warm the lower hose when the car is stood still, when running not so much, maybe because the radiator is cooling it with air flow? Have changed the thermo mate It was £35 mate, and yeah but at least you will know lpl
  8. The first garage were unhelpful when I asked for a sniff tester, said he'd need to empty the coolant or some other bollocks, the second didn't have one so I've ordered one from eBay
  9. Will the thermo only open when the car is still? Like I say if I've been driving the car around the lower hose will always be cold, if its left running however on the spot it will warm up?

An inconclusive update to mine, I took the car to two garages today, one of them put a coolant system compressor on the rad, pumped it up to 20 psi and left it ten mins, it dropped a little bit but he said it seems fine :/ He also put the pressure thing on and had me run the car, it didn't built up any pressure then which he said was good....he seems to think nothing's wrong weirdly I then took it to another garage who had a quick look and said as the bottom pipe is cold(which it always is after driving it, only warms up if I leave the car to run) he said that meant there deffo appeared to be some issue but he wasn't sure what, possibly blocked rad, faulty water pump or hg, or thermo yet it is a new one. He said to go back on Wednesday he will have a proper look.

  14. Is it a jperformance kit by any chance? If so and that's the drivers side I might have a longer coupler spare that will fit?
  15. Had a sniff test done mate, Could have gone again but not likely
  16. I reckon it's hg mate, mine only had 2 slow bubbles pop out the expansion tank not like that and I assume mines the hg, What else could it be mate, I've changed the thermo and rad cap and bled mine and its still the same.

  19. Zisco decat like new, extremely strong? Or a wepr short decat from ct9 but might be a tight fit

So basically I need to ask for this doing: -Check if head needs skimming, if so skim it the minimal amount required so it can still be non Interference. -Reseat valves with stem seals I supply and set up the valve clearances(if they say new shims are needed, tell them to take what is necessary from the stem head) -And possibly chemically clean head dependant on price Aky...I've not done a sniff test but after that other topic I took it out for a bait last night, pulled up and switched it off, rad pipes were hard and so I lifted the lid from expansion tank but left the pipe in the coolant, and some small bubbles were appearing, so pretty convinced it needs doing
  21. Ah I see mate cheers, I've asked my Mate To call them tomorrow as he owns a Garage and can likely get trade discount, what did you pay for yours doing So i can gauge it?
  22. Ah yeah ill get them to do that, and fit new stem seals What do you mean with the shim thing? So i understand what im asking them.
  23. Ah, whats the purpose of that then? Im hoping the machine shop will reseat the valves is that normal? And then checking the tappets thats just where you use feeler gauges to set em am I right? what clearance should they be?
