Ah right, they tested it with and without the car running, 11.9 both times iirc. I just want to get the car home, I'm gonna p/x it with my brothers Seat Leon Cupra as a tuned/modified/old car isn't serving me well enough for a 240 weekly commute.

Perfect time to buy a Glanza/GT ;)

Nothing super super amazing, and not Super Advans unfortunately ;) but they should look good!

I haven't checked the alternator, I asked the Halfords guys to check it but I don't think they had any idea how to (and nor do I).

Around 2:30-3pm I saw a White Glanza heading in to Birmingham on the M6, it looked stock but very clean.. And a White SR with a loud exhaust and white 5 spoke alloys in Wrexham, North Wales at around 5-6pm tonight, driving past the Halfords store near the town centre. Anyone on here?

Yeah we will get one sorted when the weathers a bit better ;) -
Title says Powerflex Exhaust Mount but the description says Mounts, but for that price I wouldn't expect 2.

The alternator isn't brand new, it came with the car. I fitted a new engine with all ancillaries, but a couple of days later I noticed the alternator was dead so I removed the one off the original engine that came with the car (bottom end damage) and since then it has ran absolutely fine. The engine from in the car is from a 1995 GT, the alternator from a 1993. Any difference in the amps?

Thanks John. I've left these with someone to wrap up as I had to get back to Uni, should be there by Friday. I'll PM you all tracking numbers when we have progress.

Daz I think you're right. Right, update on the problem. I went to the car today, it started up first time and ran well as I let it warm up. As I tried to set off it started stuttering again so I gave it a few revs and it ran absolutely fine. I drove it around locally, went to Halfords for a battery test and it was 11.9 Volts. He said the battery is fine, and that it just needs a good charge. So I started to make my way to North Wales (90 miles or so) and within the first ten miles, the battery light showed up again. I continued the journey with the CD player and other electrics off, and it w

I think the alternators buggered, see my other thread for more info. If your free at 1:30 would you mind coming back to Curzon street so I can try to start it up with jump leads using your car? None of my mates have cars here! -

Haha, shame it's broken down. -
My mate who has helped me with the whole car will be riding shotgun but I will take you for a spin if at a show/meet, if the cars ever finished! I'll also be collecting a new set of wheels soon. I know I reallly wanted to keep the RGs, but I couldn't turn these new wheels away Pictures once I've collected them, when the GT is working again!

As above, there is a big nut holding on the centre cap. You need to undo that, it may require a lot of WD40 and maybe some heat but once that's off you can get them balanced as usual.

Adapter? Why do you need an adaptor?

I'm using the original earth but it's not bolted on, instead we had to wedge it under the terminal as we had no wire crimps. Halfords is within walking distance so I will actually get some crimps for it first.

Same thinking as me Matt, I'm going to put jump leads from a mates car on it and see how it runs. If it runs fine with the leads on, then it has to be the alternator and surely can't be the fuel! Thanks for all the help guys.

The alternator earth it also on tight, one of the first things I checked when checking the battery. I left my tool kit at home this week, and I usually carry it around with me I'll try to get the fuel tank drained though, fingers crossed.

It was a bit smokey, nothing too bad. Could anyone explain why the alternator light is on then? The wipers and windows are slow too, and headlights are very very dim. I had the exact same symptoms after replacing the engine a month ago, fitted a new alternator and it was fine.

Ok I'll try to keep this brief. Yesterday I filled the GT up with Diesel, yes I'm an absolute bloody idiot. It took me 3 hours to manually drain the tank by picking out all the fuel with a small bottle after removing the fuel pump. I took the majority out, and then managed to get £40 worth of petrol in there, so it had around 8 litres of diesel still in there. I know people who have done this and their cars have ran fine once it's out of the system, so anyway the car was up and running so I took it for a run. I did around 10 miles and the car was running fine, it was hesitant once or

4-500 miles a month? Is that a lot? Good luck!
