  1. Just the regular stuff? You never had problems with it bubbling or flaking due to the thickness of it?
  2. Can anyone recommend me a good paint for painting the engine block. One that has been tried and tested that hasnt flaked or bubbled with heat. Im not bothered about how good it looks I dont need an amazing looking block just one that looks clean and not brown lol.
  3. Ep82 and ep91 top mounts are different but they still fit. The ep82 ones just cause the car to sit a little higher at the front. Find someone breaking a low spec car or someone who is upgrading one.
  4. Top mount is the only difference mate.
  5. Its easy to say its easy when you know how to do it. I'm a mechanic and when I was a 1st year apprentice I'd of been afraid of it. So many things can cause you problems. Especially if you don't have the right tools. Your going to have to split either the ball joints or crack the hub nut which for someone who isn't competant is a pretty big deal. Then as mentioned you need to line up the clutch plate before you tighten the pressure plate which again isnt easy for a beginner when your rolling about the floor. I'm not trying to talk you out of it by any means I'm all for folk doing it t
  6. Gearbox swap and new clutch youd be looking in the region of 250-300 in a garage.
  7. Welcome Mate nice little acquisition you have there. First top tip for you.......Remove the FCD get proper management before you do anything else they are horrible little modifications.
  8. Black satin paint That said Im a mechanic to trade. Obviously if someone is less able I can see why your pipes would look shit.
  9. It failed because the guy is a knob end and actually tested it. Tell him to get a yaris thrown through or your gonna knock him on his sweaty hole.
  10. Just make a few copper brake pipes up. Its simple and costs a whole lot less.
  11. Doesn't need to be. Certainly wouldn't have been out the factory. I really wouldn't worry about it as a standard engine. That semi synth is more than suitable. Obviously fully synth is going to be better but so are first class tickets on a plane but who really buys them its down to what's fit for the application the answer is both.
  12. 10w 40 mobil super 2000 best cheap oil you will find for a standard FTE. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mobil-Super-2000-X1-10w40-Part-Semi-Synthetic-Car-Engine-Oil-5L-5-Litre/301703269840?_trksid=p2141725.c100338.m3726&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20141212152715%26meid%3Da71d485fc50b4de5a5d1a5b3982d8a5e%26pid%3D100338%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D29%26sd%3D330917419701
  13. Just take out the 2 pipes and put 2 bolts in to seal it. Im leaving fluid in mine, better off with some than without.
  14. Sure its no just the dodgey wiring whoever owned the car before you wired them up with? Link?
  15. Wouldnt say it needs to be that long but like you say extra safety will never hurt. it's just to allow the capacitors to drain.
  16. make sure you leave the nut on a few threads when your pulling it off if its tight. Unless you like broken noses in which case just take the nut right off lol.
  17. Does anyone actually have these exact rods in their engine? Just before I go ahead and purchase them.
  18. No low mileage is a bonus the lower the better like any car. But no theres no well renowned "common faults" with these cars that you should really worry about if you are buyin a non modified car then chances are more than likely the engine will be fairly healthy as toyota made these engines for years and they were pretty bullet proof when run standard. Obviously basic checks when viewing a car like how it runs, listen for knocks, check oil colour, smell the anti-freeze just generally check it over like you would any car. As I said though in a standard state it is a toyota which are obv
  19. I was looking at these as well and honestly thought there had to be an issue with them good to know folk would vouch for them.
  20. Timing belt? Pretty vital but its just a general service part done around the mileage youve mentioned. Most cars require this to be done. Its not something that should affect the buying of a car given the engine is currently running as it should.
  21. If its for track days then you are definately better without.
