driveshaft oil seals how to ? or advice
StuDoc 72 replied to weddy1988's topic in Drivetrain & Transmission
Jus stick a plain screwdriver behind that pink bit and pry it out mate. -
Mole Grips with a spanner on the nut. Failing that. Under the dust cover put the molies directly onto the shock rod get as close to the top mount as poss though as if you mark the shock rod and it then recoils it can damage the seal. You can wrap it in a cloth to try and protect the rod. Make sure you get as far up the rod near the top mount as the closer you get the less likely to damage the seal.

Trouble with cat>exhaust bolts/nut sizes!!
StuDoc 72 replied to Amjad's topic in Intake, Turbo & Exhaust
This is true mate. Unfortunately some places think the UK N/A is the equivelent therefore emissions test them to this standard which without a CAT it will not meet. I have read up the guidlines and they are vague to say the least. If you fight your corner though you might have some luck. -

Aye mate just get thin bolts so as not to damage any threaded bits you need when your decat is fitted. Then just use washers so they dont go through the holes. Basically just bodging it through the mot as long as its not leaking gases you will be fine mate. -
I say this because the vac nipple on the comp housing looks like those used on hybrid housings. The factory 1 was fixed and not hex the way that 1 is. Also that appears to be the standard comp wheel with a 4on4 pattern. Measure the comp intake if it is larger than 38mm then I would be 95% sure its a hybrid housing on a standard turbo.

You can loop the nipple on the turbo to the nipple on the actuator therefore excluding the boost solenoid. Then rip out the solenoid. Take off the power steering pump and remove all the vac piping for the solenoid. Problem sorted.

Sealant for hot pipe anyone recommend anything
StuDoc 72 replied to Lawless's topic in Lifestyle General
Cool well defo put the hot pipe on with better bolts but I've never found it very hard to seal. Then make sure all your piping clamps are nice and tight. -

What did you fit on sunday? an FMIC? It could be leaking from any of the joins on the pipes if they arent all every tight. What flange and why did you try and adjust it? -
Loop the turbo and rip out the boost soleniod like I said then.

Yeah as Jhandy said. Good clean up of the sealing surfaces. Scrape off the old gasket and give it a light sand if needed.

This^ Far better than using sealant. It should defo seal though mate. Mine sealed even without a gasket. Maybe leaking from 1 of your pipe joints. -

Shouldnt have any type of sealant on the intake side of a cars aspiration system. Ofcourse you can be careful but its proper practice not to. They use gaskets for a reason. All it takes is 1 little bit to get sucked through and you could have big problems. Same reason you dont use exhaust paste before the turbo. -

So its where the hot pipe bolts on to the CT9? If its due to the studs being too short then take them out and replace them with bolts as its obviously threaded you wont need nuts. Just DON'T use sealant. -

NONE! You cant put sealant on your intake system. Which part are your struggling to seal? Is it CT9? There should be a gasket. -
Think its a good idea. If someone helped you work on your car or went n collected parts with you something you wanted them to see. Tag them in it and it appears in their content even though they havent posted in the thread notifications would be too annoying.

Just use smaller bolts so they dont get stuck on the threads. If its only for MOT then they will be fine for a few days. Jobs a good un. As for standard I'm sure the cat was studded from standard but you only need something to hold it temp for MOT. -

Flick it out with a screwdriver. Quick rub of the surface with some emery paper to clean away corrosion. Wipe down with a rag. Put some oil on the new seal to help it slip in. Position it in place. Place a socket of similar size over it and gently tap it in place with a small hammer. -
I was just about to say the same thing. You said you wanted wide tyres and that justified the wheels. My regular wheels had 205 on them now 195.
