  1. Those wheels are horrifying. To be honest it looks like a really clean car. Whats the mileage? Just sell the wheels and dvd player to fund the rebuild lol. It says its recently had a head gasket and an engine service bit wierd for the bottom end to go after that kind of work. I wonder if the oil has been contaminated when they have done the work or the gasket is faulty?
  2. Give details on him to warn off other buyers. To be fair if it wasnt knocking before then theres a chance he didnt know it isnt the kind of thing you can mask up before selling. Although he may have noticed other symptoms. Also is the rest of the car in good condition with any kind of spec? If it is then even with a bottom end rebuild then after paying 2k your not really out of pocket tbh. Its just down to whether you have mechanical skills and want to go forged now or not.
  3. Exactly I can garuntee they are of a far safer standard than a saxo but you would not be criticised for using that to carry children because it is not a performance car? Senseless if you ask me. Personally I cant advise you as I dont have 3 kids but if you manage just now with a similarly sized car and would be prepared to use 2 cars when going places then I dont see why not. Im not sure what cars in the same price bracket as a starlet would have anything other than a lapbelt in the middle seat anyway. At the end of the day it will be your choice and you that has to live with it. If you want it enough then im sure ull manage. I have no doubts in my mind that the times you are driving it without the kids in the car that you wont regret it at all lol.
  4. People will say its a tin can and that they arent safe to carry children about in this may be true BUT I garuntee they are far better built than things like 106/206, corsas and fiestas all made before 2002 which no one would think twice about carrying children in. Anyone who has owned any of those other cars will confirm just how poorly made those cars are and how cheap the materials and metals used are. Any welders will tell you that the metal used for the panels and chassis on a starlet are alot higher quality than that used on a ford or vauxhall. That said it doesnt make them safe but tbh unless u buy a nearly new car then most n cap rating are void after 4 years of manufacturing im sure.
  5. Has anyone managed to fit an FMIC without having to cut their front bumper? My main issue is that it has the optional lip on it also which doesnt help matters would I be best of just getting a new bumper?
  6. Any kind really what you got as long as its not in tatters. Just need something to get my FMIC fitted and dont want to chop up the one I have.
  7. Alright bud you still got the front bumper? What kind of condition is it in and how much you after for it? Cheers
  8. 7:30 to 3:30 mon - fri. Unless I cant be bothered then I just work from home which is just pc for doing fuck all.
  9. Its never the same when you pay doesnt feel like its meant.
  10. I just read the whole thread talk about a head fuck. Why do we not get people as wierd as that. Im jealous.
  11. Whoever that was is taking the piss lol. Whats the whole username Glanza all about aswell.
  12. Accident waiting to happen.
  13. Yep just popped up this morning you should have a look for the thread. It looks nice enough but that means very little to be honest. You didnt look very hard. http://www.ukstarletowners.com/topic/65657-swap-a-glanza-for-a-starlet-gt-turbo/
  14. To be honest this post for me was always going to say that I'm not going to sit and debate it all day so I'm glad you can conclude it like that. Plus I'm not 100% comfortable debating the topic when I havent been an owner or enthusiast myself. I am going purely from personal taste experience and conversation with enthusiasts. Most of which owned R33's so therefore would be biased. I agree though in that I would be willing to sacrifice the weight for the appearance of an R33 purely because I think thats how a skyline should look big & bulky. From being in some even lower powered 1's about 300 I found the power was still immence the revs lasted for ever and it pulled like a train. I would have believed it was more powerful if id of been told otherwise. Even with the common coil pack breakdown my starlet couldn't get close and that not top end im talking thats a 20-60 race. That said though Im definately not an R33 loyal I just gave my opinion as Im not a fan of the looks of the R32. Given the option I would definately go for an R34 or R35 without a doubt again bigger and bulkier lol. Maybe not the choice of the connoisseur but I'm not one after all.
  15. Thats for the future to decide not me or you. I say it is half a skyline purely through its looks and mass its small in comparison to any other skyline. Personally it just doesnt look right, It looks its age and outdated. A bit like an 90's camaro in drag. Nothing more than an observation if that answers your condecending question. Through popularity comes affordability it swings in round abouts. They are cheaper because there are more but why are there more? Because more were imported due to demand. There is an arguement in both corners. I certainly wouldn't call them a chavs dream even though im not 100% sure what a definition of a chav is. I think they are lot more partial to an impreza or even a starlet wouldnt you?
  16. Spoken to a good few who I have met through buyin parts off the skyline forum. Ofcourse a GTR would be more desirable than a GTS-t thats like saying a GT is more desirable than a Starlet SR ofcourse it is 1 of them is top of the range the other is the middle body. Appearance is personal opinion. Id say the R32 is fugly and wouldnt take 1 for free. They are half a skyline. R33's are far more common and popular than R32's so someone must like their fat uncle.
  17. There was a thread started about this yday bud.
  18. Sooooooo if you were a regular human being and claimed back your £500 or tried to and possibly failed to then you will receive jack shit. What a nice parting gesture by CJ Performance. An awfully bitter parting blow to some people who are £500 out of pocket thanks to their inability to run a company. The Class is ripping out them. If it had facebook I would leave a comment discouraging anyone to buy anything from him. Fortunately I dont.
  19. A leak is unlikely to cause it to overheat you could say it would because it prevents the system being pressurised but unless its running low then I imagine it would be ok. the pressure only stops the water boiling it doesnt prevent the engine over heating. So I would say no it wouldnt cause that. If it smells strongly of fuel then that almost certainly indicates the problem. Fuel can only come from the inlet mani/ cylinders and if you have over heating aswell it looks like cylinders. Strip it down im afraid mate.
  20. You want to strip it down before ordering buddy. It may be the block or somthing else and a gasket will do nothing. Best off replacing the thermostat and water pump. Possibly the timing belt if needed and the valve seals may be worth doing while the head is off.
  21. The reason it doesnt overheat when going fast is the heat generated keeps the thermostat open Along with the high engine revs. The coolant is rushing around the system with alot of speed and force which in turn prevents an airlock and basically bleeds the air into the overflow. As soon as you slow down things begin to cool and an airlock can be formed. If you allow the car to heat up and then try to remove to pressure cap the coolant will most likely have alot of pressure and all gush out. This will confirm what ive already said.
  22. Is it doing this when the breather is on aswell? I'm sure its normal to make a little chirpy noise when its open to the atmosphere. Is the breather got a jubilee clip to tighten it on?
  23. Defo mate. It was the fuel rail thing they made a cunt of the design and knew he had taken too much money on them to sort it out and it fucked him. Every group buy though was under priced over schedule and below quality standards. Shame really because he was selling the right parts they were just poor quality. Ofcourse he is on here as a guest wouldn't you want to know what people were sayin about you?? Plus he was a member on here for years its not so easy to just give up.
  24. Defo the h8ead gasket at the very least then im afraid buddy. Not even any point in continuing your diagnosis untill you have stripped it and just hope its the gasket thats fucked and not worse.
  25. No it sounds like you have a blocked breather somewhere else or your PCV valve is knackered. Someone else might be able to be more accurate though.
