Its a black wire not cream!!!
-
Having some problems with a knock sensor error code and I have now eliminated any problems with the wiring, so it must be the sensor its self. Does anyone have a spare knock sensor i could borrow to test which is local to me, I live in Swansea

The starter motor wont turn but the solonoid will click if the earths are bad on the car, check the gearbox earth first and also the chassis one from the battery. Sounds like a bad earth to me. -
Yeah it was always on the to do list unfortunatly as the stock boxy cluster hasnt got an EML light, or an ECU for that matter lol, so Grant has now plumed my old "Choke" light to the EML, so works a treat. Its even yellow, hes a good lad! Hey Grant I am gonna buy some track time tonight, did you buy just one session or two and which ones so i can go on with you ha!
-
I am beginning to wonder if this is the reason my car melted its pistons, i suspect the ECU has never been able to retard the timing in the past due to this duff wire and its only come to light as Grant plumed in the EML light recently! Must have had lots of detonation which melted them.

Well there is no continuity on the mother fucker with a multimeter, unplugged the sensor and drove it and it did exactly the same thing so defo a dodgy wire. Only thing that worries me is that the car seems to drive fine otherwise and if it wasnt for the fact the light was on I wouldnt have even noticed. Will have to rewire a new cable in and see how i get on

thanks for your help guys

engine management is bringing up an error 52 on the knock sensor, so i want to test the continuity of the wiring back to the ECU, does anyone know what colour wire goes from the knock sensor up to the ECU?
-
So does this warning lamp mean that its detected a knock, or does it mean its detected that the sensor is potentially faulty?
-
anyone?

Hey My EML light has been popping on pritty much as soon as i pull away from starting the engine and stays on until the engine is turned off, at which point on starting the car its gone off again and then comes back once i drive about 100 metres. Anyone had any experience of this error code, the manual says its the knock sensor. I assume this means that my car is knocking which means the timing is out? What should i do first as a process of elimination, as far as I was concerned the car was running fine. Should i retard the ignition timing via the dizzy?
-
will be cheaper and easier to just replace the engine, you will end up spending an arm and a leg on parts and thats even if your crank isnt knackered. Find a good engine for about £500 and just drop it in!
-
yeah thats good, as long as they are within 10% of each other its considered normal and a minimum of 150psi
-
Got the car back today I'll get some pics up! Happy to be boosting again!

I definitely think the best bays are strangely the ones which people have gone to the most effort to remove everything from the engine bay, no clutter is best! My favs have to be Turbo Grants and GlanzaGee. Love an engine bay with just the bare minimum in there Get the fuse box out, all the bottles, battery, think I am gonna look at this next on mine, engine bay needs some love!

why go to the trouble of fitting it then take it straight out again? Especially as you went to the trouble of welding the bung in? Did you not like it?
