  1. yeah it will be a pain, luckily changing the HG on starlets though isn't a difficult job and you could do it your self on a weekend if you haven't done it before. If it has failed though, always remember to get your head skimmed to ensure its totally flat, its about £30 in a machine shop, worth doing for peace of mind and while the head is off its probably worth getting your valve stem seals changed too as the parts are only cheap and will prevent any future problems while its apart
  2. I think if its over heating isn't that a classic sign of HG failure? particularly if you drive more spirited. Go to a garage and get the radiator sniff tested. They will be able to measure if exhaust gasses are getting into your coolant system. I think if super heated gasses from the cylinders is leaking into the water jacket is causes havoc with the cooling system. Easy test and they will give you an answer straight away. Just ring around if they can do one in your local garage.
  3. Sorry what do you mean? I retro fitted the whole car from start to finish, have a look at the videos listed
  4. lol everyone is doing the boxy these days Ha ha they are fun to drive with a bit of turbo power I look forward to seeing how you get on!
  5. Looking at the figures i reckon you could easily add another 15hp+ by adding a boost controller which can be adjusted to the rev range, boost pressure tends to tail off as you go up the rev range. You can see you made peak power at about 6800-6900 Rpm, yet your boost pressure has dropped from a max of about 1.08 down to 0.92. If you setup your boost controller to add more boost (gain) at that rev range you can level out the boost pressure curve and increase your HP
  6. That oil leak turned out to be my rocker cover leaking!!
  7. you will need to test continuity between the plug and the wire on the ecu plug, its a black wire if i remember right
  8. I have been running without it now for about a month, haven't noticed anything either warm or cold.
  9. Well the car got a nice clean today as it was sunny for a change, also finished putting the rocker cover back on, gonna leave it plain as its a fecker to keep respraying it! Starting to clean and tidy engine bay now in line for the show season Gonna tidy up the wiring and clean bay up some more tomorrow View of my prosport peak dials, wideband and Gizzmo EBC tucked away On a plus note i fixed the rest of the oil leaks today, oil leak free thank god!!
  10. Well after having to replace 2 ICV's because they started making that awful high pitched "bipping" sound, i decided to run it without it. It does what it says really, its supposed to regulate the idle speed. Although when its unplugged on mine it makes very little difference, I would say the idle speed is ever so slightly less, but otherwise seems to run the same.
  11. I dont use the Idle control valve any more and its currently unplugged, does anyone know if i can take it off and block it up. I am sure i have seen the same intake with a blanking plug, possible on an N/A?
  12. stick your result up on the leader board
  13. if the wiring is back to front the pump could be sucking fuel rather than pumping it as the motor will be running backwards, which is why it probably doesn't start

  15. why don't you just stick a multimeter on it, its marked positive and negative, you can check it that way. Also if you can hear it after you turn the key surely that means its working. Have you checked to see if its pumping fuel?
  16. I have paid for my membership before, but its saying i am not a full member. I need to sell some parts and its restricting me from doing so. Can someone take a look please. Thanks Craig
  17. Is this a car you have just bought?

  19. Well i think were gonna blow that out of the water this year, lets hope we can get 100 starlets!!
  20. It is very important you put these on the correct way and in the correct sequence. You will notice that each one has a number on the top and also a small peg in the middle to indicate the direction it should go. Number 1 starts on the clutch/flywheel side with the peg facing the timing belt and then 2,3,4,5 all follow the same pointing towards the timing belt side with those pegs. cheers dude!
