  1. At least its on your paving slabs, i once took a gearbox in my passenger foot well, then realised once i got there that all the gearbox oil had poured out of the box onto my footwell. Gearbox oil is horrible too, it makes me gag when i smell it!!
  2. Always a mad rush for the shows isn't it Mine is in the body shop next week getting all the rust removed off my rear arches. Think its a common problem on these, should be looking like new for Japfest. Good work keep it coming!
  3. Cheers ill do it next time its not raining!
  4. My starlet has developed a misfire while under boost, does anyone know what the correct gapping is supposed to be? My dizzy, rotor and leads have all done less than a 1000 miles so I am at a bit of a loss whats causing it. Plugs are nice and clean and all the same colour on the tips, kinda of a brownish/whitish tan colour. What do you gap yours at?
  5. no thermostat in there! Well thats a first Glad its working fine though
  6. if i could do my build all over again on mine, I would definitely make some changes to how i did it, particularly to remember keep all the 1e mounts as they fit the donor engine perfect and also I would wire the 4e fusebox behind the dash, rather than putting it in the engine bay. Could of made the wiring in the bay much tidier. Another head ache is the intercooler placement without cutting the bumper, the airflow isn't great as the bumper acts as an air dam, i think a charge cooler is the way to go Look forward to your updates!
  7. 8 minutes left to pay up,
  8. nice to see your keeping her original these cars are starting to get quite rare these days.
  9. strangely your the second person this week i have talked to about blown head gaskets! It can be a few things to be honest but most common is a knackered thermostat, which is a cheap fix, but I would just take it to a local garage and ask them to a do a sniff test on your radiator coolant. Basically if your internal combustion gasses are leaking into your water jacket, the pressure of this is what causes all your coolant to overfllow into your water bottle. If this is the case then the test will pick up the exhaust gasses in your coolant Parts to repair a HG your self are about £60 qui
  10. if its over boiling the rad overflow bottle its more than likely going to be a head gasket, try replacing the thermostat to be sure as a cheap fix, but sounds like the HG has gone
  11. ha ha well at least it makes it a bit easier, just make sure you get all the machine work done properly before building it as listed.
  12. yes just pull it out, its only held in with a rubber grommit, give it a tug and it should slide right out, just be careful if its old they can go brittle.
  13. the other goes onto your PCV valve ontop of your rocker cover (you will need to gut the PCV valve so you can blow through it both ways. You will need to block off the other end which goes into the intake manifold. Just ensure your catch can vents to atomsphere though, you dont want to have a closed loop so the air cannot escape.
  14. this is the one your after, under the dizzy https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=starlet+temperature+sender&tbm=isch&imgil=48nrYdZLqoB1YM%253A%253Bhttps%253A%252F%252Fencrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com%252Fimages%253Fq%253Dtbn%253AANd9GcTAmujAT1NDJeovfyDfXw_J14jw8bEElrmPfSrsH3U1lB14rMiv%253B203%253B400%253BZjb6CIFSbMJwrM%253Bhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.camskill.co.uk%25252Fm19b0s1301p48340%25252FToyota_Starlet_Turbo_%252525255BEP82_EP91%252525255D_-_Parts_Spares_Tuning_Servicing_Accessories_-_Engine_Coolant_Temperature_Sender_-_Starlet_Turbo_up_to_05_1997&source=iu&usg=__Obsak5Kj1QyQ
  15. Ah right ok if the temp gauge isnt budging after 45 mins when you turn it off its likely to be a dodgy temp sender then, as your right thats not normal lol. Change the sender, i think they are less than a tenner.
  16. i am excited to see this now i have heard what he has got planned the nutter lol
  17. Hi Avster, Starlets do suffer from a lot of wheel spin due to nature of how turbos deliver power. It tends to be no power then all of sudden shit loads of it when the turbo spools up, because of this especially in the wet you will get wheel spin. You need to change your driving style to start with compared to an N/A car, so more feathering of the throttle rather than just putting your foot to floor in 1st and 2nd, after that you can stick bigger wheels to get more traction and if thats still not helping your best bet will be to fit an LSD, a gearbox mod which will stop the car from spinnin
