5th gear play and jumping out help please
Taggy replied to Glanza-Ben's topic in Drivetrain & Transmission
in all honesty your probably better off just spending £100 for a new box, you will spend easy £200 on the parts to overhaul the 5th gear and then if the 5th gear is that worn its a general indication on what the rest of the box will be like. get a new box it will save you all the trouble! but all the part numbers if you do decide to do it are on that original rebuld thread i linked, the part numbers are marked on the packets in the pictures. -
More importantly did you brace the decat to the gearbox?? or have you just been running it with it hanging off the manifold studs?

5th gear play and jumping out help please

if you look at the first picture here http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/kb.php?mode=article&k=100 you can see the part numbers of the bits you need, if its jumping out on yours at a minimum you would need to change the syncro ring, which is 33369-12030 and the 5th gear which is 33036-12011 from those part numbers i would have thought he could pull the rest of the bits you need up on the microfich they look at, get the needle bearing if you can to replace. i would say its unlikely to be a cracked head if it was ok before, its much more likely to be a duff HG, in any case you will know once you take the HG off, if its not obvious then get the head tested at your local machine shop or just stick the other head on -

just out of curiosity was this head ok before you had it forged? -

All those bubbles will no doubt be compression leaking into the rad system, which is why its overheating, still a fucker though!! Could still be just a dodgy HG, but i would change the head to be sure, just make sure you get it skimmed. Did you get the block decked? -
How much for a house/property deposite???
Taggy replied to 1991 starlet owner's topic in Lifestyle General
a small deposit of 5% will just mean you pay a higher interest rate on the loan itself, so higher montly payments, the more deposit you put down the lower the interest rate they give you and the less you pay a month. -

Looking to buy a ticket to JAE, if you cant go let me know and i will buy yours off you
-
ha ha sorry debo only thinking out loud after some beers
-
thats it ha ha, clearly had one two many beers! Someone mentioned doing one when i was going to donate the GT to the club to do something with, but i ended up doing the boxy instead. Can pick up GT's for less than a grand with a knackered engine and I have got enough parts to build a nice stock motor. I think it would look cool if done right and slammed low as hell.
-
Its true i love my boxy and i don't want to sell it, arghhhhh i feel like i am losing an arm! I am just wondering what i can do for a new project, anyone got any suggestions. I wouldn't mind doing somthing different again, i really like the KP60 but there rare as rocking horse shit for a tidy one without rust. Anyone got any ideas, not sure i am ready to leave the starlet scene yet I have been toying with the idea of doing a two seater GT with a flatbed on the back cant remember what the hell they call them now, argggh whats the word!! its not a van or truck kind of a combo??
-
yeah well if your stuck let me know

Any 5 puck clutch will be good, the less pucks the more aggeressive the clutch engagement and it will be horrible for road use, so try to avoid the 3 puck ones, but any uprated clutch will do, Exedy, tuning developemnts sell some too, but dont expect much change from £300
