  1. Been seriously stressed out this week getting car ready for Sat, but I should be ok Anyone else having any drama getting their cars ready lol. I had been suffering with what i thought was blowby as i was getting oil on my rocker cover, but turns out I forgot to put the bloody seals on the rocker nuts ha ha, so that was sorted so my next problem was that I was getting blue puffs of smoke from my exhaust, particularly on overrun and then putting throttle on. Driving me mad trying to find out whats causing it, this week i have Checked the turbo and its bone dry for oil inside the int

  4. You will get a few extra hp with the 5efhe cams, but they will cost you a wedge and they are very rare, easier to stick in the 5efe ones in. 1.5 has much more torque than 1.3 it drives much better in the lower rev ranges. I have got 5efe head with cams if interested

  16. Whats the best way for me to fit the sensor into the exhaust, does it have to be welded in? Do they come with some kind of fitting bracket which it screws into, i.e so i drill a hole in the exhaust, fit grommit and then weld it in?
  17. sounds like the throttle is jamming, the car uses a throttle body which i mechanical, so the only way the car can rev up is if the plenum inside is open (which opens and closes when you do the throttle). Check your throttle cable isnt too tight, or sticking
  18. The starlets gear linkage is really basic, literally two cables which run from the gearstick, my advice would be to open the bonnet, remove the two R clips holding on two washers which attach your linkage cables to the box and also remove the U shape clips which hold the cables in pllace. You will need a set of good pliers to wedge them off. Then get someone to go through the gears in the car with it all discnnected, check the cables are moving backwards and forwards when moved with the stick, check both of them. Lube up if needed or replace if they are stiff or jerky. Also worth to se
  19. Ill do 500 miles in it and see whats its like after that i guess, rings should be bedded in nice then, although good idea about the turbo. I will take the boost pipe off and run it without the turbo connected, see if the problem stops.
  20. Well when you take the oil cap off you get the usual air blowing out of it, when i rev it on idle there negative air pressure on the oil cap and you can feel it sucking your hand which is what i would expect and reving it in general at idle i get no blowby, its only when on boost it seems to do it.
  21. Ok someone help me out here before i pull what little hair i have left out! I have rebuilt the car and it all seems good, its a forged 5e and I have just put new rings in and honed and cross hatched the bores for it, bores within spec. I have done about 60 miles in it so far but I have noticed I am getting a fair amount of blowby while on boost, evidence of it is on my rocker after I have been out in it, plus i get an oily exhaust fume smell on boost. I have read that blowby is normal when you first put in rings until they bed in, but it seems quite bad and I didnt have the same proble
