Can anyone tell me about this car on gumtree.

link is dead -
they say it was fine when it was on the rollers and are going on the basis somthing has gone wrong in the 100 miles after it left their workshop. So i cant argue it, but i am going to put the pistons back in and take it to ricky at race tech. I want him to redo the map and put it on the rollers and with any luck he can identify the fault. If it turns out its a tuning fault I will be going straight back to TD, or if its my fault some how i will take it on the chin. Will see

Ai its a wank situation to be in, I have managed to find someone with another set of pistons for £400 but its money that I shouldnt have to be spending. I have sold my oil cooler kit for £250 whch should help towards it, but i think i want some EGT and AFR guages in there.

i now have 4 very expensive paper weights if anyone wants one )

I am just fucked off that my car is in bits, i spent all that money on it to make it bullet proof forged and then somthing that isnt mechanical fucks it up! So the finger seems to be pointing at timing as the issue, as all 4 pistons have gone the same way, will get the injectors flow tested for peace of mind but it means i need to get the fucking thing back on the rollers again now arggghhh!!!
-
well this guy from another forum has had more or less the same thing, have a look here http://honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=2733542 (his was turbo charged also) the damage is almost identicle, they all think its timing especially as its gone on the intake side of the piston. Not particuarly happy with tuning developments, you pay good money to get all this shit checked and then less than 100 miles later i have 4 melted pistons where as i had driven 1500 miles previously to getting it mapped with no problems and now its fucked, if it was mechanical failure then i would have accepted t

Had some spare time to get the pistons and rods out of the boxy today to see what damage was done and if it was repairable. Now by the power of grey skull my bores, bottom end and rods have managed to get away unscathed, but all 4 pistons are fucked and look like someone has put them in a smelting furnace. 2 and 3 are completly melted and 1 and 4 were pitted and rough on the outer edges where its started to go the same way. Either way i need a new set

How to move forward after fueling/ignition/timing problem
Taggy posted a topic in Ignition & Fueling
I am just trying to work out how much its going to repair the boxy, so I am trying to put a plan together on how I am going to do it. The main problem is identifying how it happened to start with. If you can think of anything else i should replace/test let me know 1. I was going to start with the Walbro fuel pump, gonna flow it into a liter jug and then work out if its flowing the correct amount of fuel as per its manufacture specs. 2. Moving on to the fuel lines, I think i will replace them, relatively inexpensive and peace of mind. 3. Fuel filter is just a standard inline paper -
Pm sent to Adam, anyone else got any spare pistons to help me out preferably two wossner 74.5mm. Wossner have one on the shelf to buy, so i technically only need one but two would you great
-
it was a gizmo ibc-r and yes very gutted after spending close to 3grand on that engine
-
Still not 100% sure i am going to rebuild it, the problem i have now is trying to get two pistons. Wossner only have 1 spare available in stock, so i need to find another one. Does anyone know anyone who has an unmatched set from an engine that may have gone bang before??
-
Ai i agree there wasnt anything wrong when it was on the rollers as it was all checked over, only problem is trying to diagnoise the cause, car had a full tank of fuel at the time, the injectors were plug and play 372cc lime green tops (out of an MR2 a drect swap) but they were reconditioned and looked in good condition. I have always been keeping an eye on temps and it didnt even get above half on the guage at the time, also i was going in a straight line at 135mph so its happened when the engine was working it nuts off, so if it did run lean this would of been the time this could of happne

well my advice to anyone is make sure you fit an afr gauge, at least that way you can have warning and prevent this from happening in the future.

I need a set of forged pistons 74.5mm,Msg me
-
I have just paid to have emanage blue and mapped with tuning developments, I have done less than 100 miles since the map I am not sure how its run lean, I am so pissed of. If i can get two 74.5mm wiesco pistons i could rebuild it, but I still have the problem of identifying how it run lean to start with. I AM FREAKING, i wasnt running an AFR so couldnt tell and no i bought them reconditioned, but two pistons have melted and i think its very unlikely two injectors failed at the same time so i am not 100% sure on whats caused it at the moment
-
Stripped down the boxy this weekend, its fucked, something has gone horribly wrong with the fueling and its run lean, its melted number two and three pistons. Gutted, don't know how its happened, but must be do with those injectors Doesn't look like its damaged the bores luckily but I don't know what to do now, think I am gonna break the car, I am at the end of the rope!

good to hear it lad
