  1. This was on the magnetic sump plug Piston. no scratches on skirts or evidence of blowby piston ring gap 0.55mm (gap is at 12 o'clock) what say you?? lol there is a literal drop of oil on two of the intake valves so looks like the injectors were spraying fuel on to them and washing the oil off and into the combustion chamber hence the blue smoke. The cars used about 2 litres of oil in 700 miles!!
  2. Just quickly, i'm on as we speak checking the pistons over and there's no signs of blowby on the pistons. Can someone tell me what the maximum piston ring gap can be? I've took the rings off the piston and put it in the bore. tested the gap and it's 0.55mm. sounds ok to me but can someone confirm? cheers chris
  3. Lawsy, that's exactly what i was thinking mate, gonna pull the pistons out this afternoon and check them over just for peace of mind but it's doing my head in lol
  4. No mate, not got a catch can but then the breather pipes are venting to atmosphere anyway so it's deffo not that.
  5. just let me know which one it is dude and i'll sort you one.
  6. Ok guys so the engine was built 1300 miles ago to standard spec, new rings and rehone, valve stem seals, oil and water pump and gaskets, now the car runs great, ticks over a little quick but still runs good. if i back off the throttle from example 70-80mph and let the car roll down to say 60 as soon as i touch the throttle again there's a plume of blue smoke from the exhaust (quite a bit of smoke), it lasts about 4-5 seconds and clears up till i do it again. I thought it was the turbo but i've changed it 3 times and it still smokes exactly the same. Today i ran a compression test from cold
  7. take a picture of the one you need and post it up, if it's the cam cap you need with the long stud on the top then i'll have one on my spare head. on the alluminium cap there will be a id mark on it like E5 or I3, something like that, let me know and i'll sort it for you fella.
  8. same from me. top man! bumper was exactly as described. top marks. ;)

  12. Cold compression test done today 180 psi across all 4 cylinders, it only had the engine built 1300 miles ago so don't think it can be piston rings. I noticed tonight on my way home at 30mph rolling down hill in 3rd (foot off the throttle) car hadn't been revved hard at all, i touched the throttle to to keep up with the traffic and noticed a tiny puff of blue smoke in the headlights of the car behind. What i'm thinking is that one of the valve stem oil seals on the intake side is leaking and the oil is building up on the back of the valve when the throttle is closed, when i touch the throttle
  13. Yey another 5 door, i've got one too! met green gls as well as my glanza
  14. Ok guys just fitted another turbo (known good one) and it's still doing the same thing, no smoke till i rev it hard then back off... touch accelerator pedal and a swirl of bluey smoke from exhaust for about 4-5 seconds then clears up. Valve stem oil seals??? anyone?
  15. Looking forward to seeing this!! gotta love a sleeper
