  3. Hi guys, I'm having a few teething problems with this new engine in my glanza, i've ran it gently for 500 miles changing the oil and filter at 50, 250 and 500 mile markers, i've now done 750 miles and have started to give it some boost. now the engine runs well, i set the timing to 10 btdc with te1 and e1 ports bridged and it ticks over at 1250rpm, i've checked all the vac pipes that i can see and they seem fine, i also took the icv valve off and cleaned it out... but it still won't drop unless i move the dizzy. this is issue one lol but wait there's more... if i put my foot down the car g
  4. fantastic guys, i pit my head under the bonnet but can't hear it, can hear it from inside the car lol. i'll take the icv off and give it a good clean, hopefully it's that. thanks again guys
  5. Hi guys, got an odd ticking sound coming from somewhere under the bonnet (on intake manifold i think), i start the car up and no ticking at all, touch the accelerator pedal even slightly and i hear it, it's more noticable when cold and gets slightly quieter when warm. it's like 2 or 3 ticks per second (sorry for the odd description) and doesn't change speed when you press the throttle. Any ideas? it's doing my head in even though it's not loud and i hope it's not doing any damage on the new engine. Tia chris
  6. Nissan use exedy clutches as standard in their cars (qashquai, note and juke) they're ok in my opinion, got a standard exedy one in my glanza

Nah it's standard mate, put in new oil & water pump, piston rings, mains rod and thrust washers, Tbelt kit, crank ground, head skimmed and rebuilt, got a japspeed exhaust and an oil cooler to go on after run in. think the turbo intake is 45mm isn't it? got a k&n filter with 65mm but can't find a 65-45 reducer elbow on flea bay lol.

excited's not the word mate... extatic! had loads of set backs and then the weather's been cack but thought bugger it i'm gonna do it even though it's been -2 and i don't have a garage lol got to get it taxed mot'd and insured but it's gonna have to wait as it needs an efi pipe and a sensor for the exhaust (not the lambda one)

Wooooo, after 10 weeks of sourcing parts, trips to the engineers and building this engine i finally got the engine in, plumbed up and running and boy was it worth the wait! started first turn of the key, no taps, knocks or rattles and ticks over bang on 800rpm i would put pics up but it won't let me, just says something about dynamic pics aren't allowed Sorry if i'm babbling, just so chuffed to have got it done, can't wait to get it on the road now, woohoo chris
  13. Hi guys, i'm in the middle of rebuilding my v engine and need to ask a silly question... i'm putting the piston rings onto the pistons (standard pistons and rings) and i have 3 different rings. oil ring obviously goes in the bottom groove on the piston but then i have ring 1 and ring 2. would i be correct in thinking the number 1 ring sits in the top groove and number 2 in the middle? just thought i'd better confirm before i make an arse of it lol cheers, chris.
