-
cheers fella ;) got my entry in for the Opposite Lock rally ;) co driving in the 86' http://www.slaithwaitemc.co.uk/rallyinfo2010.htm well i fixed the filler pipe, i used a bit of side impact bar from the paseo's doors that i chopped out. ;) and i single skinned the spoiler as it was too heavy, and mounted it to the boot lid. and been preping the body, only a few small dents/scrapes, so not bad al all and a pic of what i left the car looking like today

that bumper looks excellent mate!!! -
yeah been emailing breakers on ebay. might just weld it then solder it.
-
if you can bend CDS and weld, then you dont need dimentions, just make it up as you go along
-
allreety, i need a fuel filler pipe for the paseo, as mines rotten, cheers
-
yeah russ i guessed that lol

didnt do any work on the car this weekend, had a party on the bus with some friends, and went to watch banger and stock car racing..... where i got a spoiler for free yey. its off a civic coupe, so looks kinda similar to the origional one, so shouldnt have a problem log booking it with it on. the origional spoiler was snapped you see

awesomes its just i havent seen these before untill i got a paseo and started looking at the parts avalibale and to me they just seem pointless, so i'm saying that. ok, so that means no one on here should diss electric superchargers, and if it looks like someone has driven a saxo through halfords and has 'motorport' on their sunstrip we cant say its shite?
-
you can also stand it on the chassis rails, i dont like standing on the sills, as it can crack the paint and starts rusting, and if you have skirts somtimes they arnt visable front: back: if your using a trolley jack on the sills, use a piece of wood to spread the load and protect the sills. also if your working under the car, stick a couple of wheels under the sills incase the car drops off the stands, the car wont squash you flat then ;)
-
people buy exhaust tips, fake carbon fibre sheet, electric superchargers, 99p chips doesnt mean they work fella. that floor brace, its mounts are nowhere near were the load would be applied, and the c pillar bar, if you have a rear strut brace, its gonna do nothing, as the body will still flex side to side which is what you want to stop. the lower rear strut brace wont do anything as there is no void or weak/flex point (if anything is probably the strongest part of the starlet chassis) in the chassis where it mounts to so thats gonna do nothing apart from catch the floor and add weight.
-
from what i can see, the construction of the inner wings/strut mount look pretty strong from the factory, so i dont think fender braces are needed, i have seam welded them and i recon thats about all thats needed even for jumps/forest rallys. plus ive made a chassis brace that links the big hole under the car, thats where the most flex will come from, its also the front lower strut brace and sump guard mount. if i'm bored i may make some fender braces up, anyone interested?
-
i think i might make a c pillar brace and floor brace tomorrow, as they are apparently super magic, and will make my car super duper! ;)
-
the reason why they put them on demo cars etc is so dumb shits will buy them thinking they will make their car extra super excellent race car!
-
lol, bit random... ok so that must mean those electric superchargers and 99p 'chips' really do work!! brilliant! run my car on water! excellent!
-
strut braces do work yeah, apart from the lower rear, i said that before, but like the floor bar, what does that do... as where it mounts will flex, so will do nothing, and the c pillar bar, unless its tied into the struts with an X, thats gonna do nothing as the body will flex side to side. the price of them is crazy for a bit of tube :S
-
hi mate, no i crack the piece out of the mould fist, then trim it with a thin cutting disk on an angle grinder. then sand the edges with a sanding block to get them straight. i might make wings in the future, but the standard items are quite light, so gonna leave them for now.
-
front upper and lower, and rear upper strut braces work, but not the rest of them :S
-
they dont tho thats what i'm saying. thats what they are marketed for but as i can see they dont do anything!
-
Allreety, i'm new to starlets, ive noticed a lot of these braces avaliable to stiffen up the shell, like the floor brace, rear lower strut brace, the braces the bolt to the seatbelt mounts, what are they for? because they look like they will do fuck all apart from empty your wallet and look ghay ;)
-
yeah mate, once ive got the cage and seat mounts welded in, i'll be spraying the interior white.
-
blow torch on it fella, WD40, and a breaker bar will do it
