  1. easy to change the pipes dude. i have a flaring tool, i ripped out all the hard lines, and made all new copper ones, running inside the car. practice a few times first before you make your proper lines. you will make your money back on the tool and pipes etc by making lines up for your mates. defo a tool worth investing in!
  2. the paseo started yesterday. since i chopped loads out of the looms, i thought there was a good chance of it not starting, but here goes: lots of smoke. lol the breather on the cam cover that goes into the inlet had failed when we got the car, and pumped loads of oil into it, so the inlet, engine and exhaust were covered. so first startup looked like this after it had ran for a while it was ok.
  3. i havent seen it in the flesh, so cant exactly say what it is. have you taken the motor apart? how far past does the scratch go?
  4. was it there before you put the head on? how can that be a machining fault? it looks like somthing was in there, or its had the shit revved out of it, and the edge of the piston ring has cut into it.... rather than being run in. but it looks too big to have been the latter
  5. aye, need to keep my eyes open for a cheap set. anyone got a front splitter?
  6. just reading through, that 5e looks like somthing has been in there to scor it like that. easy enough to do on a turbo car, with lots of intake pipes, etc, its so easy for somthing to get in there. i wouldnt blame the engine builders, most likely to be a mistake on your part, sorry to say fella.
  7. yeah its possible. its 4 bolts on each hub. some people put washers on the bottom two bolts, but the proper way is to get shims made up. just because its not on the net, doesnt mean its not possible
  8. yeah easy as pie to change them dude. about the same as changing a speedo cable
  9. all my cars at the moment, apart from the paseo are rwd. and the paseo is in bits. do you want it for looks, or handling? if its about getting the wheels under the arches, put as much camber on as you like. all depends on what kinda roads, or tracks your driving on,
  10. you will have to get them made up, any machine shop will be able to make you a pair. just take them in a hub and explain what you need. camber on the rear will give you more understeer, on a front wheel drive car i usually have a couple of degrees up front and none on the back, but i do drive on tight country roads, and use the handbrake a fair bit.
  11. aye, should be good we will be using steelies for racing, but a nice set of speedlines, or compomotives would be sweet for show
  12. front use bolts and/or top mounts, rear use shims.
  13. bit more work on it today, stone chipping under the arches, kill switch installed, and little bits and bats....
  14. bumpers painted satin black, the graphics going on there will be gloss pink, gloss grey and satin black
  15. all i want is ajustable spring platform, and to be able to change the springs. its for stock hatch rallycross, and i dont want to spend a load on suspension incase the car gets wrecked first outing. so 200 quid for a set is cheaper than a standard setup (which we are running at the moment)
  16. maybee take your wheels off and actually have a look at your brakes? then you know what needs changing.....
  17. yeah 6n, my sister has one, but she uses it daily..... anything can be made to fit any car, so looks like i'm gonna have to try it out ;)
  18. i took the powersteering off our rallycross paseo, remove everything including the rack, take all solid pipes off the rack, and empty all the hydraulic fluid out of it. now find some bolts to screw in the holes left by the pipes, and chop them off flush, so they are blanking plugs to stop dirt and dust getting in there. now refit the rack.
  19. anyone done this? they look pretty similar fitment, and can be bought cheaper than starlet items. cheers Rob
  20. tube bending was done by machine, notching was done with a grinder. i still need suspension yet, looking for a sponsor for that.
  21. cheers guys, i need to buy the rest of the tube now, but the place isnt open till 3rd of jan. once the cage and seat mounts are welded in, i can get it painted and built back up. for some reason, every time i start to work on this car, somthing comes along.... lol, i just bought my dad an opel manta gte for christmas, and that needs a little bit of work, not much tho, its pretty mint, and my mates mk2 golf is coming in next week for some work too. plus the karmann ghia is in bare metal at the moment, while i straighten out the body, and do some mods, like rear arch tubs, lowering the fl
  22. the cage is going in now, should be finished in the next few weeks, ready to do some test events hannah cutting out the 4mm floor plates for the cage to mount to: welding the main legs in :
