  3. its an old car, any car this kinda age, i would defo check the oil before i drove it home. Its might not be the guys fault, so dont be too quick to blame him.
  4. at the moment Ive got a stock 5E, head skimmied to the max, Corolla inlet, and 50mm TB to go on, A big help will be an LSD, I just put a deposit on a Cusco LSD box, so will have that end of next week, I'm going to chop the boot floor/spare wheel well out, and replace with ally sheet, and also junk the fuel tank, and move the battery from the front, to inside passenger side of the car.
  5. I dont mind cutting out the chassis leg, if i'm doing that, i mgiht aswell go 3SGTE and have over 200bhp to keep up with the rest. The car doesnt have power steering, PS is for fags ;) at £500 for a Celica GT4 motor thats quick straight out of the box, i recon its a better bargain than going 7age, It would cost me that just for the ECU to run it. If i go 7AGE i'd be in the up to 2.0L class, so would be in the same position i am now, but the class above. (at the moment i'm at around 80/90hp, verses around 150hp + in the 1600 class, even the 1600cc stock hatch cars have 130hp +) I was thinking

  7. Looks like he had someone else build it for him, so not sure how much help he would be? Also he had custom shafts made, which aint good for a rallycross car, (I need somthing I can get off the shelf) the engine and box had been mounted far over to the left of the car, which also means the wheel and tyre will catch on the gearbox. The custom shafts have been made to allow for the engine and box to be mounted over to the left - so the right hand chassis leg doesnt need to be cut, but i'm not sure wether its also because the Celica inner CV's dont fit the starlet shafts?

  12. Cheers, I;ve been offered a 3Sgte motor complete with loomm ecu etc etc for £500 from a scrap yard for the Rallycross car, So wondering if there were any build threads to show what parts I need. or at least any pictures on the net?

  16. I'm gonna be building a decent 5E I was going to turbo, but want to keep in the under 1600cc class. So, I have a decent 5E to start with, plans are, balanced standard crank and rods, 75mm pistons, skimmed head, corolla manifold, decent header, and probably emanage.... or maybe stick it on carbs.

  18. most 'aero' people put on their cars will produce more drag than actual downforce. track days... yaaaaawn
  19. wheels are cheap. some 15 inch steelies off a VW or Vauxhall can be bought for less than a tenner a peice. Slicks can be had for around £40 a peice. Aero mods are totally pointless, main thing is tyres, suspension, and get the car as light as possable. make GRP panels for it, its cheap and easy to do.
  20. yeah you can use a hydo handbrake to park you car, as long as it has a lock on it or just leave it in gear i have hydraulic and cable hand brakes on mine... and my mate fitted a master cylinder to the back of the origional cable brake on his 86 rally car (so cable and hydro work at same time)
  21. i built a hilman imp motor with 12:1 compression, it would only run on meth lol. was fast as fook though. I can only use pump fuel, so cant go too high. There is a nice large bore 4age emxhaust manifold near me quite cheap, i may just buy that and try it........... alltho i am going to the scrappy today where there is a supercharged levin may just buy the whole motor
  22. i'm running pretty high compression on my 5E, I skimmed the head pretty much as far as it would go without having to clearance the pistons really i could do wih an ajustable cam gear.... where can i get one from? I have a corolla inlet ready to go on, once i find a 50mm TB, and looking for a tubular exhaust manifold... maybe convert a 4age after market one.
