phil i think you ve maybe just got a bad caliper! i ve 144,000 now and have had no problems i would go to a breakers and pick up a 2nd hand set.

tou will notice the engine is a little more responsive throught the gears but not too make an awful lot of difference.

from wat i ve been told they handle well BUT the brakes are rubbish when you go over the ton and also that the have soft gearboxes!!

not a nice thing to have happen!! it happened to me bout years ago but i still aint got it fixed yet!!
