    HKS Ecu

HKS never made an ECU that replaces the stock ECU on the starlet they are all retain the stock ecu so unless you have 2 ECU's there you will not have a HKS ECU. Thats not to say you might have another sort of re-mapped ecu but these don't need a FCD so i'd say the seller wasn't being honest.
  6. I've not seen the systec stuff being faked only seen the Jap brands and the turbosmart ones that have seen to cheap to be real.
  7. Best price i found was: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FSE-injection-fuel-pressure-regulator-adjustable-/180907127092?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2a1ee7b134
  8. I've used them for years and not had any trouble with them the new shiney anodised ones look nice too
  9. Tanks for the words of support guys was close to giving in when i was at TDI. Austec are Crawley naer Gatwick airport, i've always been a firm believer in choosing a tuner then running the ECU that they like to tune but as the engine and ECU came as a package i wanted to stick with this ECU which limited my tuning options. If i was starting from scratch i would have gone with a Hydra and had tractive map it as they are local to me and the Hydra looks like a great unit.
  10. Just wanting to share what happened yesterday, i've had the car running for some time on the map that was done when the engine and ecu were in a different car i knew it was safe but wanted to get it all checked and get a power figure for myself. As it's an F-con V pro there were not tuners local to me that could map it so i had to look further afield. I chose TDI down at lakeside as i had heard good reports and they were HKS power writers and had a very professional workshop so when i was down that direction with work the other week i called in to meet them and book the car in explaning what ecu i was running and whet i need doing all was said to be ok and i booked it in for Thurdsday. So Thursday came and i was up early for the 150mile drive down to TDI for 9.00 a.m. all was going well got down there in good time and they got the car fitted up to the dyno packs. Then the trouble started i was waiting in the waiting room when the tuner entered and asked what version the F-con was? I told him it was a version 3.0 and here dissapeared for a bit but was soon back. He then procedded to tell me that they cannot talk to the version 3 or 3.1 f-cons and could only talk to the version 3.2 or above! I asked why i was not told about this as all the ecu's have a serial number on and you can check this on the HKS USA web site to confirm which version i had. They didn't really have an answer for this so i decided to cut my losses and see if i could find another tuner when i got home so they took the car off the dyno pack and brought it outside. When i got into the car to leave it would rev up for the first minute then after that when you accelerated it would only rev up to 2000rpm then back down to 1000rpm and keep going up and down. So now i was stuck i had a car that i couldn't drive and i was 150 miles away from home. Asked the guys at TDI what they could do and they said all they could is fit a new ECU at £1500 as they they could not talk to the current ecu. I asked if they had tried to do anything else to the ecu or car as it drove down fine before it entered the workshop and they said no. After taking time to think and phoning a few other i know i called Simon down at Austec Racing, they couldn't be more helpful i had only spoke to them once before a long time ago but Simon sent his own recovery truck up to me recoved the car and got it back the there workshop by this time it was getting late but Luke got straight into looking at the car. Within minutes he was connected to the F-con and had figured out that it was getting no throttle signal. A bit more digging and he notice that something was not correct with the dip switches on the ECU. When TDI were trying to connect to the ECU they had moved these switches about, these control the self learing mode on the ECU for the throttled position sensor and it needed to re-learn the TPS. Once this was done Luke got on and mapped the car: Thats 317 hp @ 1.5 bar on 97 octane pump fuel. 4E TD05 and a few other bits. I can't thank and recomend the guys at Austec enough they all stopped late (was 7:30 when we left) and Simon was supposed to be at a family meal! Luke had finished work for the day but came back in to look at my car. They knew i was stuck but helped me out in every way they could and were great with the price too. By the looks of the workshop they can do everything you would want and are equpped to work on every make of car. http://www.austec.co.uk/
  11. Lol now you mention it thats what it is!
  12. I'm sure i've seen one like this before might have been one of the livesports ones as i know they did a few can't find it in the hyper rev book

  16. Try and get to a Notts meet next time there is one most of us Lincs guys end up going but it's soon looking like there will be enough of us for a Lincoln meet...
  17. If you have brought it off who i think you have don't count on getting anything out of him some people have had problems in the past...
  18. The 96 year glanzas have a different setup to the 97 ones the same as above when i did mine i removed to all and fitted a new button for the horn in the dash
  19. The stock spolier only bolts on with 2 bolts the others are slots that catch into some clips on the tailgate so if yours has some threaded holes i would think it would be genuine. The one above doesn't so looks like a copy.
  20. It's quite a common problem with the heads cracking it will get worse and start to blow in the end. Not seen many EP82 engines do it though but have seen quite a few EP91 ones go. They can be welded back up but the head needs to be off as the face needs to be skimmed afterwards, most people often end up swapping the head.
