Yeah we dont advise customers to purchase the HDI EBC units, theres alot of cheap brands out there at the moment which use the same solenoid and they just dont control boost well. It tends to be the ringlands that break up on the starlet pistons, as said you will see oil coming from the rocker cover breather and also the dump valve sometimes. Sounding like a subuaru is part of it as well but once you do a compression test you will find the problem cylinder(s) if anyone is in doubt just drop us a message or call or even pop down with the car and we will check it out for you. Its for safety mainly mate, i agree a stock GT/Glanza doesnt need a pump but if you pushing up around 200bhp or maybe more then for the price of £65 for one of our pumps i wouldnt risk a pump failure. Yeah i wouldnt recommend just fitting them alone but if you have a piggyback management system or a standalone then it would be worth it as you can get the car remapped after fitting and possibly take the boost slightly higher.
