00joeindastarb0
I would just like to have people's opinion on whether once you have opened up your 4efte, has it lasted. I'm not talking forged builds but just a replacement of rings, bearings and seals. As all the standard rebuilds I recall have failed down the line.
5e colin
yes i have many times on diferent engines build it right make sure you have correct tools to build it and clean clean and clean again before asembly just dont go moterfactors and buy a rebuild kit and slap it in there and be done thats when things can go wrong if you need to know more just ask
Starlet__SR
Time, patience, preparation. I must have rebuilt more than 30 upto now. All still going strong. And 15 of those are Rover K Series haha! 😅
00joeindastarb0
Well I'm planning to take it out and strip down next weekend then deliver it to the machinist on Monday to check/replace valve guides, skim and hone. I've had a few people question me reusing the piston, I feel as long as the piston and bores aren't out of tolerance they should be fine. The engines done about 135k and had 10 years at 1 bar on a CT9 it puffs smoke on startup and when ragging it so I suspect the valve stem seals and rings are worn. gorganl2000
I've had absolutely no problems with rebuilt engines in the past...my advice is to ALWAYS use genuine toyota parts once its going into the engine and make sure all tolerances are within spec
fiddlersport
i completed mine two months ago, 3k on it already and still holding up fineuse genuine as much as you can and take your time and you should be good
Lynch
I rebuilt mine, all genuine parts.Have around 20k since the build and still going strong. Make sure all your measurements are perfect, everything is spotlessly clean and let her run in properly before driving her hard and you should have no problems. funny onion
The engine in my advance was a complete overhaul. Everything machined and genuine Toyota parts built in a clean environment and it's been spot on for nearly 70k miles now It originally melted the Pistons after a remap but we won't go into that, but it's been fine since the rebuild and remap
